@Danizaur: Do they have any type of weighted blanket he could sleep with? Since he is being monitored so closely I would think it would be safe. The small amount of pressure it provides might help him feel weighted down and secure. We use them in special ed but I think I've heard of them being used in NICUs.

I'm trying to let him fuss it out a little bit. He's so tired that he's not putting up much of a fight, but still trying. I go and rub his head or face periodically.

@beaker: no recliner! Whomp whomp. Just a very uncomfortable wooden rocking chair. The sofa pops out but that's DH and I only bed. And we can't both sleep if one of us is holding him.

Those cribs normally recline with a crank on the side, would that help? Is just sleeping with him on your chest in the recliner not an option? I know that's not peaceful sleep for you though...

@Danizaur: hmm...could you let him fall asleep in the infant seat and then move him to the crib? These doctors and their rules. ;)Don't they know you can't just look at a baby (especially a sick scared baby) and command them to sleep in an uncomfortable position? Sheesh.

T has to sleep on his back tonight because he was sedated earlier. He's normally a strict stomach sleeper. It's just not happening so far. The crib in the hospital room is so high up that transfer after rocking or nursing is not very smooth and he wakes up. Plus you have to lower and raise those squeaky metal crib bars. Also I'm on my own at the moment since DH is in the ER downstairs. I have a soother on and a paci in. I try and run my hand over his head and belly to soothe him but he just looks at me like, No.

He really needs some sleep! I need tips!
