My girls are 18 months apart. The older one just got way more screen time that normal for the first while. I worked hard and synched up their afternoon nap so I could have some alone time. I wasn't strict with the younger ones nap schedule, but always made sure to be home for nap for the older one, to keep her on her schedule which helped with her moods. It gets easier :)

I have daughters those exact same ages. After the amount of time I would have to spend fighting to get the baby to sleep in the first month my toddler now barely even notices the couple minutes I'm gone. At the start though I would either pull out a toy from the bottom of the toy box that she hadn't played with for awhile, crayons and coloring book or a snack in front of the tv. It couldn't be random cartoons though it had to be a favorite. If she was munching on an apple or popcorn in front of a Wiggles episode on netflix we were good to go.

Yup, tv, locking her up with toys in her room/food, etc. DD2 didn't fall asleep in her own until 8 months!

Mine are 12 months apart.
The older one sometimes has to hang out in her room with some books, or she gets screen time.
In the beginning my youngest slept in the swing for all naps. Once that stopped working bigger sister just had to get used to a little alone time.

For the afternoon nap I literally drop my middle one off in her room and close the door and then nurse the baby and put her down. I spent my third pregnancy making #2's nap and bedtime routine as short as possible.

@AnnabelleG: my toddler just watched way too much TV. It was far from ideal but anything else she would just start crying or yelling for me while I was in the bedroom getting the baby to sleep and she's either wake the baby, or I would be stressed hearing her and rush putting the baby down. It got pretty bad with how much tv she was watching. We've been able to cut way back after the baby dropped to two naps and can fall asleep on her own.

I have a 3.5month old and a 25-month old. 2 days a week I'm alone with them. My baby needs a lot of support to get to sleep and I'm trying to train him to sleep on his own in a dark, quiet (white noise) room. He no longer sleeps well in the carrier anyway. I have no idea how to do this while also caring for my toddler! I've resorted to Sesame Street but it doesn't always work and I can't use tv 3-4 times a day. How have other people managed having two tiny children with totally different needs? Thanks!
