Definitely try the Zoli, my baby got the hang of it right away and much prefers that to the other sippy cups we have

With the sippy we would just tip it back for him and he figured out how to do it himself after 1.5-2 weeks.

I just reintroduced the straw cup a few days ago and he figured it out right away. I just bought a cheap $4 Munchkin straw cup from walmart. I didn't 'prep' the straw like pp have mentioned, but it's worth a try!

Also, I've heard LCs recommend just going straight to a regular cup. Your LO doesn't NEED to take a straw or sippy cup, they just don't make as much of a mess!

We also used the playtex cup that you can squeeze. After about 2 squeezes, LO figured it out.

ETA: added bonus - the playtex cups are cheap!

We introduced a Zoli at 6 months and it took LO a few days to get the hang of it!

We use the Zoli and the Playtex already mentioned. The Playtex is great because you can squeeze the cup. She figured out how to use a straw with that cup.

We used a Zoli cup and she caught on pretty quick. I filled it up, then blew into the straw to build air pressue in the cup so the straw filled with water. As soon as she got the straw in her mouth and bit it, water would come out because of the pressure, then she figured out what was going on. It took a couple of days but now she's a straw champion.

He just took to it right away, but the Playtex brand straw cup can be squeezed a bit to get some into her mouth. Every baby is different, but after trying a few times with the squeezing trick, he realized he needed to close his mouth and then naturally started sucking. Now he can drink out of an adult sized straw and cup.

His is this one (but not pink):

C refused to use a sippy. She can't figure it out and she hates it and will knock it out of my hand when I try to give it to her. We briefly tried a straw cup but it was a cheapy one and we both hated it.

She will, however, drink from a regular cup.

How did you get your child to take a sippy/straw? At this point, I think the straw is a better bet. What brand did you use?
