@mrs. jacks - bouncing on the ball usually helps. How hot is "piping hot" and how do you heat it?

We had a similar issue and recently went through it again after 3 days of no bottles! The key was persistence. My husband just kept trying and trying until it worked...no fancy maneuvers or tricks. We did just give him the boob if he was screaming for more than 10-15 minutes. We were more concerned that he would have a negative association with the bottle rather than him thinking that enough screaming = boob..

We stuck with one bottle type (Medela bottles) and made sure LO was in a quiet room with no distractions. He will even take a bottle from me now!

@BeachMama: have you tried Mam bottles with piping hot milk and some distraction like bouncing on the ball or outside? That's what worked for us.

We had this same issue. LO had problems breastfeeding in the beginning so got milk from spoon, cup, and bottles. Once we got the hang of breastfeeding she refused. I have 3 different types of bottles and we ended up using one we had as a sample because the nipple was the most like mine. And my husband fed her, not me. She expects the boob from me :)

I think she'll get used to it, just keep at it with giving her the bottle. Maybe start her off with the breast then switch to the bottle?

Thanks for the tips. I bought a platex drop in bottle w a latex nipple but not sure if it's making much difference. We'll keep trying. My mom has tried feeding her the past couple days and was only able to get her to take an ounce or so.

What I'm doing now is just trying to give her one bottle daily. But she puts up such a fight. Do I stop at some point and just give her the breast or is that teaching her if she fights me enough she'll get the breast eventually?

if the nipples are clear then they are silicone nipples, Latex nipples arent clear they are almost brown in color.

my 10 week old did the exact same thing. she drank out of a bottle fine in her first few weeks then once i got the hang of breastfeeding i stopped giving her a bottke and when i tried to reintroduce it she refused it. Are you giving her formula in a bottle or breastmilk? Also what type of nipple are you using on the bottle. My baby will only drink from latex nipples, even though she used to drink from silicone nipples in the beginning.

in the end it was persistence. and olive liked the comotomo bottles best. but at 9 months, she still hates the bottle and will only take it from our nanny.

LO used to take a bottle easily when she was just days old. Then we stopped supplementing w formula and I didn't pump for a few weeks. Now she throws a tantrum when we try to use a bottle. I can get her to take 1 1/2 oz only by gently bouncing on a ball while holding her. Now I'm trying to do one bottle daily to get her more used to it. Any suggestions?
