Sounds like he might be overtired. When my LO is waking up at 5 it almost always means he had a crappy nap the day before. I know it sounds crazy, but try an earlier bedtime for a few days and see what happens.

I wish I had advice! Those early wakings have got to be SO ROUGH! Hang in there. I have heard that rising too early is a really common problem, and it's one of the hardest to fix.

My girls wake up at 8:00 or 8:30, but they don't go to bed until 9:00.

I have a very active 17 month old baby. His bedtime is anywhere between 6:40-7 (usually closer to 7).

At daycare, he naps anywhere from 1.5-3 hours per day. The routine is set in stone and he usually goes down after lunch between 11:40-12 every day.

He used to wake up around 6 every day, but it is now consistently at 5. This is really tough for us, especially for me since I am 15 weeks pregnant.

I have tried pushing his bedtime back, but he just can't handle it. He brings me his blankie and asks to be breastfed and falls asleep. I have tried pushing it forward to 6:30, and he still wakes up close to 5. I have also noticed that it really makes no difference whether he has napped 1.5 hours or more a daycare. This is such a mystery to me.

Also, on a side note, at daycare he doesn't take his nap until after lunch. Sometimes during the weekends, he will ask to breastfeed at 9:30 and fall asleep for about 40 minutes. I can usually get him to go down again around 1 for another hour or a bit more, but thought he'd adopt the same nap schedule at home too! What I'd do for a three hour nap on a weekend!

Thanks in advance!
