@erinbaderin yeah, I do not get why they don't use a paint that would be WASHABLE out of clothes. Because the kids are obviously going to get paint all over themselves. This is the first time they've done a lot of paint in my son's room and I see why. They actually had to change him into backup clothes because the clothes I sent him in were covered. It looked like he just rolled in paint. And of course, I didn't know it was going to be "painting day" so he wore a really light blue shirt and light plaid shorts. Sigh.

@MrsADS: From what I can figure out, it's tempera paint (at least at my daycare) which is advertised to be washable but in actual fact is washable off of hands and, like, tables. Not so much clothes.

ugh this is my life every... single ... day! I swear they must burn through paint at daycare!

I've been soaking in oxyclean, dawn dishsoap and washing if still not clean I repeat and then hang wet in the sun. It usually comes out. Let me know if the rubbing alcohol works!

@arosebyany I will try the rubbing alcohol! I just read that too. Although maybe it is too late since I've already washed in in Oxyclean? I dunno. :bummed: (I didn't put the clothes in the dryer, at least)

@erinbaderin yeah, that may be the case. I don't get it - I just assumed whatever paint they used would be some sort of washable, easy to get out of clothes stuff and apparently NOT!

I think you're out of luck. I've never been able to get daycare "washable" paint out of my son's clothes. It makes me crazy.

My son recently spilled this PVC water sealer (it's purple tinted) on an entire outfit. Not really sure how my husband managed to miss my son playing with it when they were outside "working," but that's another story.

Anyways, we tried everything. What ultimately worked was TSP in our washing machine.

https://www.bobvila.com/articles/cleaning-with-tsp-trisodium-phosphate/#.WR7uUlPytPU

We put just a little in there, washed it, then washed it a second time with oxyclean (just to be sure all the TSP was out) and the outfit is good as new. It was a complete hail mary for us - my husband had TSP in the garage for removing a grease stain from the garage floor - and we were shocked it worked.

There is also a hydrogen peroxide + blue dawn recipe out there that supposedly works wonders. It did not work on our stain, but I think it was an extreme one.

@MrsADS: I totally just saw a Pinterest tutorial on this yesterday. It said to pour rubbing alcohol wherever the paint was and scrub with a toothbrush, rinse and repeat if nessesary. Then wash as usual. I haven't tried this yet, and I dont know if it will work since your already set the stains in oxiclean. It is suppose to start working instantly when you start scrubbing, and it's suppose to work on clothes, shoes, rugs. It was a video tutorial so seemed legit. hope this helps

So my 21 month old's daycare class did a huge outdoor painting yesterday at school for National Outdoor Classroom Day. Cool. Well, his light blue shirt and light colored shorts are covered in green and brown paint.

I cannot get the paint out of his clothes! I sprayed Oxy Clean max force spray (what I usually use for tough stains) and let it sit overnight with that on it. Then presoaked in Oxyclean powder in the washer, then washed on "heavy" soil setting. And it still did not come out!

They're cheap Old Navy daycare clothes, so if I can't get the paint out, not the end of the world, but I'd like to salvage them if possible.

Anyone have any magical stain lifting suggestions or am I out of luck?
