@AprilFool: @illumina: That is what I'm trying to tell myself, that it's not really about the baby, but about an excuse to see friends. I also realize I haven't been to kid's parties as a parent, so maybe I will feel different now. Give the baby some socialization :)

You accept the friend's and let the cousin and co-worker know you already have weekend plans/ commitments. It doesn't matter that you are attending another bday party since you already committed to go.

Are you close with your co-worker? If not, I would decline theirs (maybe give an excuse you have other plans) but go to your cousin and friends' LO's parties because you obv. care about them and it is obv. important to them that you attend, otherwise they wouldn't have asked you.

I've been to a few in the last few weeks and LO and I only stayed an hour or so. They were pretty fun and I saw how much it meant to my friends to have their friends (with or without LO's) attend.

Go to the ones you want to go to, skip the ones you don't. Boo social media for this reason.

Go to whichever ones you want to go to; I think people understand. In all fairness, I've been to two already this year and they've been pretty fun. Like others have said, they're pretty short too.

I suppose you could say yes to them all and then only spend a short time at the two you're less interested in. If its not too far of a drive, I'd just drop by.

Overthinking, just tell your cousin and co-worker that you're sorry but you already have plans that day, or just straight out say that you're not able to go. None of their business if your other plans are to just stay at home and chill out!

I think you're overthinking things a little. Go to what you want to go to.

But in my opinion our LOs first birthday party was for more me and than her. It was amazing day surrounded by people we love so if you love your friends go. The parties don't last very long anyway. Several people couldn't make it to ours and it didn't dampen the day at all so for the ones you don't want to go to just decline.

I have no less than 3 invitations I received this week to 1st birthday parties. One is from my cousin, one is from a co-worker, and one is from a friend.

Personally, I cringe at the thought of going to a 1 year old's party. I have only been to birthday parties for nieces and nephews, and those were generally small cookouts with immediate family. My LO's 1st birthday celebration will be a cake at our Christmas family gift exchange.

Of the 3 parties, I only really want to go to my friend's, and for the selfish reason of just seeing them and hanging out. I have no idea how to just attend one party and then not attend the others. I don't' want to lie to get out of any of them, and I know my friend would put pictures on Facebook, so the other's would know I accepted an invitation and declined theirs. Argh.

So do I decline them all, or accept them all? Or I'm over thinking this and just need to go to my friends and not worry so much? :)
