I had to do this the first PP AF and once a month thereafter (AF came back at 4.5 months, even though I EBF). Water, Calcium+Magnesium tablets, and Fenugreek pills. It's the only that got me by that week of AF.

Mine would drop for about 7-10 days then recover. I added a pumping session and used my freezer stash when I couldn't pump enough.

@Little Misters Mom: My period didn't return until 9.5 months, and it was also around the time that I dropped Xander's dreamfeed, so I think the combination really had something to do with the tanking. I pumped really aggressively, but never tried adding supplements (they had never worked for me before).

I think for a lot of people, their supply just drops while they have their period and then recovers, so hopefully that's true for you!

My pumping supply seemed to decrease for a few days but it always went back to normal. I still stuck to my regular schedule when I knew I wouldn't make much milk/.

@Adira: oh no! When you noticed it tanking, were you aggressive in trying to recover from the start? Do you think you could have done anything that would have made a difference? Also, how old was LO? DS is only 18 weeks.

When my supply tanked with my first period, it never recovered. :( I had to add extra sessions and keep them until I was done nursing in order to keep my supply up. I hope the same isn't true for you.

If your supply tanked, what did you do and how did your supply recover?

My supply has taken a nosedive over the past few days. Sure enough my first postpartum period arrived with a vengeance yesterday. I EBF and usually pump one bottle's worth of milk for DH to feed.

Currently, I'm adding an extra pumping session (so pump both morning and night) and eliminating the bottle feed for a few days. I know it's normal for supply to diminish when your period returns, but how aggressively should I treat this? Do I need to get the tea, and cookies, and power pump, etc? Or should I just ride it out and things will naturally even out?
