My toddler was developing a fear of bugs, then one day at a museum, the volunteers had these huge horrible Madagascan Hissing cockroaches out, and invited her over to see them, then touch them, and she ended up holding one! Ewwwww! Anyway, her fear then turned to fascination and solved her getting freaked out at the park. I know that's an extreme way to deal with it, but it worked for us.

One of thing DD has always loved is being outside. Going for walks, going to the playground (where she wants to do everything), riding her scooter, etc. The last several weeks she has been resisiting spending much time outside, however. At first I thought it was because she wasn't feeling well (she had a cold when it first manifested itself) and then because it was starting to get hot out. But it continues and both DH/I and our nanny have noticed that she gets really concerned whenever she sees any kind of bug (ant, gnat, etc.). We are starting to think that might be a contributing factor to her sudden reluctance to go out. We have no idea where the sudden bug concern/fear came from but wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how to address it? Are there any videos or books that might help (something that makes her think bugs are cool or, at the very least, harmless)?
