We lost our lab, Blue, in June. It was one of the toughest losses we've had. We also had him cremated and opted to spread his ashes in his favorite places (the park, river, backyard rolling pit and a few to a previous owner) but also decided to create a memorial out of his ashes through this lady:

She is so sweet. And let's you know how to do everything.

I'm so sorry for your loss, it's so tough. When we lost our kitty we printed out some pictures of her including a large one that's hung up next to a photo of our daughter over our couch. We also put a picture in our LOs room. We wanted to feel like she is remembered and still a part of our family.

@youboots: I'm so sorry for your loss. We have 4 fur babies and I dread when we approach their senior years. I read this book at the library with LO on accident the other day and didn't realize the subject matter and it made me cry. It's very lovely though and I think could be good for LOs.

@youboots: Oh no, I'm so sorry :( Losing a pet is so hard. Our sweet boy had to be put down while we were on vacation back in June. I still get teary-eyed thinking about how he must've felt in his last few days when I wasn't there.

A few months on now and I laugh more than I cry when I think about him. It may sound stupid, but we still sometimes talk to him like he's there--mostly telling him to quit doing naughty stuff. It helps.

We don't have his ashes or anything because it wasn't honestly something I was thinking about at the time. I think I'm going to get a small felted christmas ornament in his likeness (and one for our girl who passed away 3 years ago) for our tree.

So sorry for your loss.

@yoursilverlining: thank you. What a nice tradition.@mediagirl: we don't know Dutches birthday either ❤️@Mamaof2: that is very sweet. We will have a little ceremony for Dutch at the coast where our family beach house is. Our final wishes are to be creamated and have our ashes spread there so I guess someday we will all be together.

@youboots: so sorry for your loss - we lost our sweet girl last month at the age of 16 - it was so so hard :crying:

I have her ashes and we are planning to plant a tree in the backyard and put her ashes there. We have a stepping stone and the kids painted rocks - this will be her tree

As a cute funny side note my 6 yr old DD asked me to put her ashes in the backyard and plant a tree on her head when she dies just like the dog :silly:

@youboots: I'm so sorry for your loss. :( We got this to remember our girl by. We didn't know her birth date so we put a quote at the bottom that makes us smile when we see it. http://bit.ly/2hb4V3q It also gives us a place to go outside and talk about her with our lo.

So sorry for your loss. I continue a tradition from my childhood: we make albums but also go to the rocky coast as a family and together select a rock to symbolize the lost pet. Then we put that rock (eventually with others as time passes) near a tree/special flower (somewhere of significance to us) in our garden so that there is a physical place to remember and to grieve

@youboots: I am so sorry for your loss. These fur babies have such a presence in our homes that the void is so painful after they're gone. I sent this book to a friend who lost her pet and she said it was helpful for the whole family: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-rainbow-bridge-adrian-raeside/1111031107?ean=9781550175844&st=PLA&sid=BNB_DRS_Core+Shopping+Books_00000000&2sid=Google_&sourceId=PLGoP78860#/

@youboots: it's a hurt that feels completely unreal. Our girl was DH's dog since she was 7 weeks old and passed at age 10 years. I cried a lot from her loss, but my heart hurt the most for his loss.

I wish your family comfort and hope that someone is able to suggest something you can read to DD.

@youboots: I'm so sorry. We experienced that heartbreak last year and we're still recovering. Our girl was also cremated, but we haven't done anything with her ashes. I found a sweet photo DH took of her way back when and blew that up as a black and white canvas and it's hanging up in our living room with a candle and her ashes in a box underneath it. I'm also in the middle of putting photos in album together and surprise DH with it sometime.

I don't have much suggestions for you....just wanted to send hugs and love through this tough time

We had to put our older dog down today unexpectedly- he is old but he declined within hours. We are both reeling from the shock of it. I had a colored pencil drawing done of him years ago and have his collar on that but I'd like to do something else. He is being cremated and we are spreading his ashes at the beach. I was thinking a small album? DH is really struggling it's his dog- we adopted him full grown 11 years ago. It's been a tough one.

Also DD keeps walking around saying he's gone and saying find him. Any books we could read about the loss of a pet?
