A big one for us is making sure no plants or trees are directly touching the house. They will show up in droves if this one tree touches our roof during the summer. It stops completely if we cut the tree back.

@MrsHansen82: I'm not that specific. I usually pour some in and then just fill up the bottle. I make sure I can smell it, but not too much that it's sticky

We use peppermint oil and water. I've sprayed it around the doorways and no spiders!!. I doubted it, but it works!

@MrsHansen82: Ack!! I googled for you quickly and found this http://www.orkin.com/other/spiders/wolf-spiders/

It says to contact pest control (obv, it's Orkin ha!) but that they pose a substantial medicial risk to adults if bitten

Peppermint oil, I think that's what I read. You buy the oil and then you can mix it with a bit of water in a squirt bottle. Then you spray around the perimeter of the rooms.

@avivoca: I think they are wolf spiders. My cats like to chase them but unfortunately, they aren't quite fast enough!

I'd ask the people at the hardware store. What kind of spiders are they? I'm not a big fan and we get them in the summer, but I just tell myself that if I'm seeing the spiders, that means I'm not seeing anything bigger.

We keep getting spiders in the living room (like one a day) and I assume they are coming in from a crack near or under the front door. I don't want to spray anything toxic. Any ideas for a natural repellent or a good door seal?
