thanks all! I've considered trying CIO but of course at 3am I just want to go back to sleep as quickly as possible so it seems easier to just get up and feed her for 10 minutes :) If she doesn't drop the feedings in a month or two then I will likely try that though!

We never had much luck until 8 months when he slept through the night twice in a row on his own. I then let him cry on the third and fourth night (maybe a half hour each time). He has been sleeping through since. We also tried formula at night and that didn't work either although did get us to just one feeding. I feel your pain. I was a wreck the first few months of work because I could never go back to sleep. I think shortening the night feeds is a good plan. it had definitely become a habit rather than hunger.

I did CIO when she went through a phrase of waking up twice a night around 6/7 months. She has been only waking at 5:30 to feed but also started getting up between 2-3. We just let her cry for a few nights in a row at the earlier feed and she never cried longer than 10 minutes. After a few days she went back to only the 5:30 wake up and within a month or two was sleeping through until 7:30.

if you are opento it, CIO for night weaning worked well for us. 1 night, 45 mins of crying and night wakings were over. we did it around 6 months.

I followed the guideline on troublesome tots...E was bottle fed so we worked to shorten her feedings and upped the other ones. It worked great for us!

@cheesetomywhine - thanks! that was really helpful to hear. I will continue to shorten the nursing session and hope she eventually drops them. last night she only had one wake up at 330 (well, I guess 230, bc of the time change) so that was a nice treat :)

One of the reasons that I'm eager to eliminate night feedings is I have such a terrible time falling back asleep after the early morning feedings - so frustrating!

I shortened the nursing session and one day my little guy just slept through! It probably took a week or so of barely nursing him. My lo is 6 months. He dropped both his 10-11 feed and his 3:30 feed at the same time. My Dr dropped the middle of the night before her 10pm dreamfeed. Alternatively, is there anyone else you can have soothe her first? She may sleep through if she doesn't get to see you when she wakes. Good luck!

I have a 5 month old girl - she goes to sleep on her own and sleeps in her crib from 7pm to 7am but typically wakes up 2x (once around 11-12 and once around 330-4; a handful of times she only wakes up once around 3). I'm going back to work in a month and would really like for her to only wake up once (and ideally 0!!) in the night. Any tips? I have started to shorten her nursing session which she seems fine with .... but she is still waking up. Thanks!
