@zippylef: I agree. I've been using bumpers with DS since he was first put int he crib (at six months) and he's never had any problem with them. Strangely enough, though, even with him pulling up and walking the bumpers are still on the crib. We tried taking them off for a week and it just wasn't working for us since DS is a busy sleeper too. So until he starts staying put or something else happens we'll just keep with what works.

Besides, I think bumpers are cute.

@PrincessBaby: Meh. I'm not one to drive myself crazy with paranoia. I think it's an issue that blown extremely out of proportion.

@rachiecakes: I can't even imagine! I already have to watch her like a hawk and she can't even sit or stand on her own so I dread when she's officially mobile!

@zippylef: I am too chicken for real bumpers, lol!

We just used regular bumpers. We didn't take them off until she started pulling up because we were worried she'd use them to help climb out of the crib.

@T.H.O.U.: oooohhhhh!!! I didn't know about these individual rail thingies!!! Thank you! I think it's her head bopping into the rail that wakes her up bc I've seen her on the monitor snoozing with her hands hanging out no problem! We probably need both the breathable one and the rail thingies:)

Even worse when they start to stand and fall. I wanted to put a helmet on DS!
I used a sleep sack for a little while but when he started to stand it would pull on his neck. He's still all over the place in his crib.

We use a breathable bumper that keeps limbs in the crib. They also make these bumper like things that wrap around each rail of the crib.

My poor little H is such a busy sleeper...I lay her in the crib with her head toward the headboard, and lately she's been wiggleworming her way clockwise and wakes herself up when her head and hands (she sleeps with them above her head) hit the side of the crib.

If I wake up and see her getting close to the side, I will go slide her over...But she STTN, which means MOMMY now STTN, so I usually only wake up when she's crying and I see her shoved up against the side of the crib...

Man I wish bumpers weren't suffocation hazards!!! Is there anything I can do for my wiggleworm?

Oh last night I put her closer to the other side of the crib, thinking maybe she wouldn't make it all the way over to her usual spot, and she still managed to get herself over there and bump the other side! I woke up to her crying with her head touching the rail and a tiny hand hanging outside of the crib!
