At eight weeks, I would just wait it out. Eventually he will start to sleep longer stretches, and I think that is the point when you can have a little bit more influence over bedtime.

@Littlebit: She actually naps ok during the day, she's a big sleeper. She usually only wakes up for the day around 11am and then naps for 30 minutes every 2-3 hours or so until 4pm when she will usually take a longer nap for 1-2 hours.

@Littlebit: I went back to work at 12 weeks. By then bed time was between 9 and 10. Hope your LO does the same! He was also still waking up twice to eat.

My boys started to do it naturally on their own around 11 weeks or so. My 6 month old now goes to sleep between 7-8.

Following because my baby is the same! She goes to bed at the earliest 10pm, but usually more like 11:30pm-12am (she still wakes up every 3-4 hours to eat, but she goes right back to sleep afterwards during the night). I'd love for her to go to bed earlier so I can have some more time with my husband.

DD is also only 2 months old, so I'm assuming it might be too early to try and enforce a schedule? but I'd like to know some tips for when the time comes!

Need some advice - how do you push up babies bedtime? He's 8 weeks and right now he goes to sleep around 10:30-11pm and then he sleeps several 3 hour stretches until 9:30-10am. I would much rather him go down around 8pm and wake up earlier so I can have some time at night without him :/

Background: all day long he takes short naps. Usually around 20 minutes. I'm ecstatic if we get to 40 minutes! He is still taking naps up until 9pm or so. We have a bedtime routine (bath, diaper, pajamas, bottle) but even if I try that at 9pm he'll only sleep 45 minutes and then he's up again. I tried getting him up for the day earlier thinking he'd go down earlier - no dice, he just lost those two hours :( Any advice/help? Do I need to just stick with waking him for the day earlier and doing the bedtime routine earlier longer and eventually he'll get it?

He's 8 weeks, and he's been like this since 2 weeks. In a 24 hour period he's only getting an average of 13 hours total. Usually around 9-10 at night (with wake ups) and then another couple of hours with crappy naps. Is he still too young for any consistency? Or is there something I can do to move up bedtime?
