We are Goodstart Gentle users as well. I BF for 5 weeks but then had my gallbladder out which complicated things so we had to move to formula, started with Enfamil but LO seemed to be getting really bad bloated belly from it so we discussed with the pediatrician and they suggested trying Goodstart Gentle it has been great (i think we have used gas drops once or twice in the 6 months we have been using it). Also, it is reasonably priced at BJs ($25 for a 33 ounce can)

@chopsuey119: Thanks for the response, thats great to know!

I've heard scary things about the sucrose too.

I'm sure whatever we give is "fine" but there has to be some better than others. I don't think there is enough testing and research on a lot of these ingredients so safer is better to me.

currently I am exclusively breastfeeding but when we were supplenmenting we liked Enfamil Gentleease. we tried the regular newborn enfamil but LO hated it and it made her super gassy. At the hospital she was given the pre-mixed liquid enfamil and she likes that too but its expensive and not very practical.

Sounds like a question for a blog post! Frankly, I really do believe that whatever you decide will be fine.

After we did our research and talked to other docs, nurses and midwives, we settled on Earth's Best organic formula. Organic and non- GMO was important to us...

I would caution against the main brand organics as they are fortified with sucrose!!!

@banana: You're welcome! It's great having friends who research the crap out of everything! They do all the hard work for us! Kinda sucks too though because they ruin GOOD stuff for us. Ie. They went on a wild hunt to find out the ingredients of frozen yogurt (Yogurtland).. found out that it's a whole lotta crap and is terrible for you. *sigh.

I'm so interested in the advice you get. This is exactly where I am in the process too. LO is 9 months old and will be needing formula since my freezer supply is down to 3 bags. I have always worried that I wasn't going to get the right kind!

My friend and her husband are CRAZY researchers and they came to the conclusion that this is the best formula out there.
http://www.naturesone.com/
They gave their daughter this after 11 months of breastmilk.

Friend was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago and beat it using a natural and holistic treatment. I'm going to give baby #2 this as a supplement if necessary.

I am thinking I may need to supplement as my LO is 9 months and I don't have a freezer stash anymore.

What things should I look for in formula for my LO. She doens't have any allergies or reflux issues from being breastfed but I still want the best for her.

Is organic important?
Whats the differences between normal and sensitive versions?
Pros and Cons of soy?
Generic versus brand name?
