She first started sucking her thumb as an infant and at first it was okay as a self soothing technique. But as she started school I felt like all that extra contact with germs was definitely not okay. Plus, I was a longtime thumbsucker and the orthodontic work is something I hope to avoid as much as possible with my own children.</p> <p>So, about two weeks ago we started hardcore on the Mavala Stop. We started with just her nail, but unfortunately that didn't work and we had to paint her whole thumb. Her preschool teachers were very supportive and if she tried to suck her thumb, her classmates would remind her not to and they all made a big deal out of every day that she didn't suck her thumb.</p> <p>We did a reward, too. After the first week of no thumbsucking, we let her pick out a Paw Patrol toy at the store. She just completed her second week and she got a little Paw Patrol bath toy. I really want her to stop, she occasionally gers blisters, I'm worried about diseases and just want her to stop! Her step-sister sacked her thumb so bad she had an open blister and contracted MRSA when she was 1, so I'm extra concerned.</p> <p>What have you done that has worked? </p>
