I'll see what he thinks about cleaning pump parts, thanks for the suggestion!

We haven't really gotten LO very many books since my mom was going to bring us all my books. I like the idea of him reading to LO, we have a couple of short and sweet stories he could read.

@petunia354: My husband took pride in making sure my pump parts were always clean. What a great suggestion!

I agree with LittleK, my husband also loved reading to our son in the NICU. It was bonding time for him and he often did it while doing skin to skin. Just make sure your DH knows that you love him and appreciate him supporting you. Men love to feel needed, so if you give him a task like reading a story to LO or washing your pump parts for you, it'll make him feel less helpless!

Its a tough situation. DH tried to spend as much time with us at the NICU as he could but his work was not understanding. I think all you can really do is tell him how much you appreciate his support and how much it means to you and your LO. DH enjoyed reading stories to LO while we were there, he was very intimidated by how small LO was and didn't feel comfortable holding him.

My husband is trying so hard to be here but i know he's having a hard time dealing.

He has been so supportive of me being here all day everyday and so supportive of my pumping but I know he feels helpless.

What can I do or suggest to make him feel better? The nurses have all said that it's harder for dads and are very sweet to him and help him and answer his questions as much as they can. It's just hard to see him hurting and not be able to help.
