I'm barely pregnant, and I can tell that this is going to be a problem with my MIL. She already is dreaming about all the "junk" she can buy. When I told her I don't need her wasting her money on things we don't need/want, she snappily told me that I can't complain that she buys all these things for my niece and nothing for our baby. Her feelings were hurt but now most of the things she buys I use so I think it was worth having some hurt feelings. She emailed me a picture an I immediately just didn't care for them. But to keep the peace, the girls will wear it and I'll take a picture. there are plenty of other times I will be picking out their clothes. There were a few times I told her to return something because I said I already bought something or had an outfit in mind.... a few of those times may or may not have been white lies.</p> <p>Also just wait until your son has his own ideas aboutwhat he wears. my eldest is at a stage where she is very picky and adamant about her outfits. I cannot tell you how bad I feel when there are pieces of clothes I bought for her that she simply refuses to wear. she loves pink so much she always insists on pink tops, pink bottoms, pink everything. I mostly just put it away and claim that we do use it. Yes, it takes up storage space, but I hate when she thinks I'm ungrateful at all because she stopped buying clothes for my niece and nephew because my bro and sis-in-law never dress them in the clothes she buys for them. In fact, we got hand-me-downs from them with tags still on them that I know my mom bought. And nice stuff, too-- real timberland boots, ralph lauren clothes, etc. So when she buys something I don't really like, I'll put him in it once or twice when she's around to make her happy, then put it away. For my situation it's just easier to make her happy than to work my way around it. Of course, this is speaking from my perspective-- my parents live a 7 hour drive away so we only see them every few months for a couple of days at a time. I'm a designer and I consider myself to be a "cool" chick. I also want my kids to look cool and I'm not a fan of baby clothes that are too babyish. Meaning no Disney characters, trucks, boats etc. </p> <p>I like little monsieur clothes for my son. I've made it OBVIOUS to EVERYONE... yet my mom still doesn't get it. </p> <p>My mom is a fleece lover. I mean, she has fleece pants, bedsheets, jackets, even socks and thinks that because she loves it and its comfy (sure it's comfy) but that my son should wear fleece ALL THE TIME. Every single thing she's bought for Mavrick since he's born has some sort of fleece on it and it drives me nuts. </p> <p>I don't make him wear it, unless his sick or just int he house, and majority of the time i ship it to my mom so she has "extra" clothes when she babysits him. </p> <p>One time, my inlaws got mavi some nice pants and a checkered shirt. I loved it. Showed my mom and she was like "Nah, I don't like that... it's not baby enough" I replied with a "I LOVE IT. I don't like babyish baby clothes" yet she still doesn't get it. </p> <p>HELP!!! WHAT DO I DO?!!!!!!!!!!!!! </p>
