We srarted with naps, but only did it for one week before doing it at night too. We use a white noise machine and give him an a&a blanket with a pacifier. The only universal trick I think is to stay consistent. If he woke up I would soothe him and put him back in his crib. Sometimes I was waking every 2 hours but now he will sleep through it only wake once. Some kids love things too like a lovey or swaddle, but that doesn't work for everyone.

We switched at 4 months. It was no big deal, we just did it one night. It did suck having to get out of bed to nurse though.

Same as @meganmp. We just did it one night. I was super worried because she hated the crib for naps. She's still doesn't take naps very well in her crib, but she does night with no issues. Things that helped me personally but had no impact on her were having an audio only monitor with a lower sensitivity setting so I wasn't waking up with her every peep, having a video monitor that I could turn on when necessary to get a look at her, and the owlet monitor. Because of the owlet, I never go into her room just to check on her, which I thinks help her sleep a lot better. Probably overkill, but it works for us and helps me get sleep.

My LO is 5.5 months and we are transitioning her to crib now. We do all naps in the crib. Then I would put her down for the night (7) in the crib and when she woke up around 11, I would bring her in bed for the rest of the night. I thought it would be easy to eventually stop bringing her into the bed but it really hasn't been. So I gave in and bought a magic Merlin. It is amazing!!!

Start with naps. Use a sleep sack. Does she have a lovey or paci?

When we transitioned, she was feeding twice a night. After she had her second feed, which was about 5am, I put her in the crib for the rest of her overnight sleep which was just a couple hours. Then I started putting her down for naps in crib as well and after a week or so she was full time in crib.

We had a nightmare of a time doing this transition. I won't go into the gory details, but after weeks of horrible sleep (waking like 8-10x per night), we finally had to sleep train at around 5 months. That worked like a charm.

We started with naps. Then just did it one night. Worked out great. It was time, he was waking 2-3x a night next to me (7 months old), and is now sleeping through or only up once.

Sleep sack, and we use an A&A lovey that he loves. Calms him right down if he wakes. And white noise!

She's taken A nap in the crib... Perhaps I should be more consistent with that .

Does LO take naps in the crib? We started by putting him down for naps in his crib and once he was good at that we started putting him in his crib for night time sleep.

DD is 5 months. It's time for us to move her to her own room. I don't want to, I love having her close, but we are keeping each other up at night, nobody is getting enough sleep. It's just time.
What's your advice?
