I didn't use vibration, but I think weaning off that vibration first would be good. I started by putting the RnP in his room next to the crib (11 weeks). Then I had his first sleep in the crib (in the beginning, this was like 20 min.) and all wake-ups back in RnP (13 weeks). When his first sleep was pretty established in the crib (about 15 weeks) then I would put him in the crib after his MOTN wake-up. After about a month he was in the crib for the night (still brought him into our bed in the morning). Now at 4.5 months, he prefers to sleep in his crib, even for naps (although naps in the crib are a very recent thing). He only tolerates sleeping in our bed if a boob is in the mouth :silly:

@simplyfelicity: thanks for asking this! I have been thinking the same thing although we only use rnp for naps. I found this helpful:
http://www.troublesometots.com/weaning-baby-off-swing/

We started putting the rnp in baby's room next to his bed and putting him down awake. I am also trying to create a nap routine (diaper, swaddle, paci, song, then down) on the rationale of having other sleep cues to lean on when the rnp is gone.

We had the same issue with our LO sleeping in the RnP from day 1 and needing to transition him out.

First, we stopped the vibration and had him sleep in the RnP for another week or so. Then we moved him to his crib, which we had elevated with 1 crib wedge, and had towels underneath the sheet in the U shape (the "snuggle nest" described elsewhere here on HB). He was still swaddled with 1 arm out at that time, so we kept him that way and I think that helped. We slowly moved the towels farther away every 2-3 days until we removed them. We left the wedge for another 2 or so days, and then removed it. Then he was sleeping in his crib like normal!

I will say that we first tried transitioning him to the crib around 13 weeks, and even with all the "tricks" we used, it was a BIG fail. But I guess he just wasn't ready, because we tried again around 19 weeks and he transitioned fine!

Good luck!

If you think the vibration helps for falling asleep, then you could keep it on until you know he's sound asleep, then turn it off. Then after a few days of that, you could put him to sleep without the vibration on at all. Then move him to his crib.

I turned off the vibration for a couple weeks.

Then moved him into the PnP and it was seamless. No wake ups. Good luck!

@Mrs Green Grass: I was also thinking about weaning him off the vibration first since he does have a bit more time.

I never used vibration in the rnp, but they do have some vibration devices for the pnp. Maybe you could do that or add something to vibrate your bassinet?

Lo has been sleeping in the rnp since day 1. While he hasn't sat up in it yet or anything, his little legs look a bit squished. I tried putting him in the bassinet but he wakes up right away. I am thinking the lack of vibration wakes him up.

How did you wean off the rnp?
