I keep my hands on LO's chest and belly with a tiny bit of pressure (so it feels like I'm still holding her) once she's in the crib and leave them there until she seems settled.

I heard that you should try to make sure they go down on an angle so their legs hit the bed first and then their bum - that helps minimize the feeling that they're falling and the startle reflex.

@Truth Bombs: @MrsSRS: I think she likes the swaddle but we stopped using it - she wiggled so much in all of her swaddle blankets that they would get over her face or neck and it just made me uncomfortable. She does well with the Magic Merlin suit though. I do sometimes use a heating pad on the spot I'm going to put her down on, can't really see a difference but I'm sure its comfy for her :)

@catomd00: give me details! This would be awesome but it seems like she just conks right out- no drowsy time. Do I put her down, then pick her back up if she fusses? There have been a couple times she has woken up but I have to step out anyway and sometimes she does fuss for a couple minutes and then go to sleep.

@sapphire: yeah I'm kind of shocked about the good night sleep in her crib. During daytime she's not having it though, and before just going cold turkey to the crib at night she had never been put down for more than a few minutes at a time, awake or asleep- she always screamed immediately!

Thanks for the help, seems like a silly question since this is my third but they've all been very different in the sleep department.

Probably time to start putting to sleep awake so LO can learn to put herself to sleep and self soothe. That's great that she sleeps in the crib though! That can be a hard transition.

My LOs both liked being tightly swaddled before being lowered into the crib, helps stop them from waking themselves up with sudden movements.

I started attempting drowsy but awake at this point. It was a long, slow process but it paid off in the end.

My LO is 2.5 months old and falls asleep nursing or bouncing or whatever. She sleeps well overnight in her crib (which we just started about 2 weeks ago) but transitioning her from my arms into crib has gotten tougher every day. She will seem to be in a very deep sleep and then wakes despite slow careful movements. So I have to start all over. Any advice? I am spending 1-2 hours putting her in bed every night and I have a lot I need to take care of!
