@ElbieKay: I have one where you can also carry a cake or cupcakes. You can also get the plastic kind of cupcake holders like they have in the grocery store. Sometimes if you ask nicely they will sell you a couple! But, since the weather will be unknown, if I was her I would worry about the frosting. :/

I can't comment on the camping aspect or whether cupcakes are the best choice for this particular circumstance. But FYI cupcake carriers exist. Here is an example:

I would just skip the cake and cupcakes and do a cookie cake instead!

Also GWL had some fairly tasty desserts when we went- maybe just get something from there?

@Pollywog: Agree. Cake should be fine for a couple days (especially if frozen before you leave and in a separate cooler that stays closed) but homemade icing will get yucky.

Also what about birthday muffins or doughnuts? And save the cake for when you get to GWL and order something to the room or restaurant.

I would bake a cake, wrap with plastic wrap, and freeze. Keep it in the cooler until the morning of the birthday. Then I'd frost with a tub of store bought frosting.

We are taking a little trip for our daughter's birthday this year. We are camping for 2 nights and then going to Great Wolf Lodge for a night at the end of the trip. The last morning we are camping (when we are headed to GWL) is our LO's birthday. I want to make and bring cupcakes for her but I'm not sure the best way to do this. How can I transport cupcakes (or a mini cake even) and keep it good for a few days in the heat without access to a fridge?

We will have coolers but I'm trying to figure out the logistics...frosting, no frosting...cupcakes in tupperware, inside a cooler? Their own cooler?
