we swaddled olive until she was 4 months old, and then quit cold turkey, and she was fine. she also had a very strong moro reflex. i would wait like the others say, unless he starts rolling over!

Agree with the advice to wait! We went until almost six months, at which point he was much more ready to ditch it. Search the blog; a couple of my first posts were on this.

@Sammyfab: Thats what I meant, the Magic Sleep Suit! We just use a heavy sleep sack (has like a minky interior with a cotton outerlayer) so its like a nice warm blanket on her which I think helps

I would keep swaddling. We swaddled until 4.5 months. We quit cold turkey because DS flipped over from back to belly while swaddled. We began using a sleepsack. The first few nights were kind of hard but he got used to it.

If his Moro reflex is super strong I would probably keep swaddling. Each baby is so different. I was stressed about weaning LO from swaddling but we gave it a shot between 2-3 months and even though she took a little longer to fall asleep at first she was able to fall asleep...I just had to give her some time to get used to it. Maybe try for a nap or two and if he can't fall asleep without it then keep swaddling (maybe an extra tight one like the miracle blanket) and then try again in a week or two.

I would keep swaddling too unless she is constantly breaking out of it. The other option that I heard is a good transition out of the swaddle is Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit.

We swaddled until 4+ months. It worked for us. We let her kinda break the habit and then we switched to a heavy sleep sack (kinda like the miracle suit).

I feel like I'd want to keep swaddling him, if it helps him sleep.

Can you wait a little longer until his moro reflex dies down? My baby is 2 months old, and she also hates being swaddled... but I make her sleep swaddled at night b/c she sleeps better. At this age I feel like whatever allows them to sleep for the longest period of time is the best solution.

Hello there!

I have a 3 mos baby boy whom I am trying to wean him off from swaddling.

I've tried to swaddle only one arm for two nights in the row and it hasn't been working. I've tried putting him on his sleep sack, put both his arms in it and he hated that too. I've also tried holding his arms while he sleep and he didn't like that either.

He still has pretty strong moro reflex, and my biggest dilemma is he doesn't like being swaddled but at the same time, he can't stay sleep without being swaddle, any tips out there? :) Thank you in advanced! Much appreciated!
