Thanks guys I'm currently working on the MOTN feeding to drop. She's been screaming for 30 minutes and I know exactly what she wants so I feel horrible. She's 11 months though so these midnight feedings especially have to go because this pregnant momma needs sleep. Hopefully this doesn't take long.

I totally get not wanting to BF while pregnant.

DS is 14 months and I'm 9 weeks pregnant and he had his last nursing session Friday evening! Hooray! But it was a looong process:

At 12 months he was nursing morning, afternoon and evening with 1 MOTN feeding. I started by taking the afternoon session out. Then we waited a few weeks and then did the MOTN session, then the morning session and finally the before bed feeding.
I introduced whole milk with meals at a year but he would just spit it out. After a couple weeks of offering it 3 times a day I got frustrated and worried and added a tiny amount of strawberry syrup. Just enough to make it a little sweet. Well, he gobbled it up! So as I weaned him from the boob I was also using less and less syrup in his sippy of whole milk. Now he has zero boob and zero syrup but it took 2 months! It was a really easy transition for both of us but it did take a long time.

Good luck!

We are March 2014 twins so I'm in the same boat. I've weaned N off but I already wasn't producing much. It helped for DH to do the early morning feed as that is the one N is most attached to. We did 3/4 BM, 1/4 formula for a few days, then 1/2 1/2 and so forth. At first he would pull off the bottle and run his face in my boobs (cue sound of heart breaking) but he eventually got it. N is younger at almost 9 months so the transition may have been easier for him, good luck!

@Ree723: I'd like tips on how to get her to drink whole milk too. She is 11 months so I'm hoping to wean over the next month that way no formula is needed. She also knows the baby sign for milk so is constantly asking for it. It's hard!

I started replacing a feed with solids and that seemed to work pretty well. I also made sure LO always had her cup of water with her and that seemed to satisfy her liquid needs from the dropped feeding. When I replaced the nursing session with solids, I didn't offer the boob at all, nor did I mention it as LO knows the words 'mummy milk' and would immediately want it then! LO loves her solids though so adding in more solids to replace nursing sessions was pretty easy for her.

Our LO is 13.5 months (and I'm nearly 14 weeks pregnant) and I think we have just finished weaning....I think! She last had a feed on Saturday morning and it's now Monday morning here. The first thing in the morning feed was the last one to be dropped as that is the one she was most attached to. So far so good, I'm just keeping an eye on my supply, making sure it has got the message they are no longer needed. I don't know what to do if they start feeling full!

Anyway, good luck, I hope it all goes well!

ETA: we never did any formula as she was close enough to a year that it wasn't necessary. I have tried offering her whole milk but she wants nothing to do with it.....if anyone has any suggestions on how to introduce whole milk, I'd be more than open to them! LO just drinks water and occasionally some watered down juice.

Following. I can't get DS off the boob. Tried formula in sippy and bottle and won't accept it. Whole milk was a little better, takes like a sip though and he's done! Ugh.

How many times is she nursing per day? I would start weaning her off one feed...Then another...And another...Over the course of a month or something.

LO is 11 months old and I hope to have her weaned around 1 year, or a little after. I am pregnant and not interested in continuing to breastfeed much longer. I always thought I'd let her self wean but being pregnant, I've changed my mind. She's such a milk monster though I don't even know where to begin...Any advice/tips?
