LO1 never took WCM from a sippy cup. He would only take it from a bottle. School kept offering it to him in a cup, and he preferred water. He still doesn't drink WCM to this day and he's 4.

With LO2, once he transitioned to the older room at 1, they went cold turkey and put the milk in his cup. He transitioned really easily. I never cut his nighttime bottle, but he's starting to wean himself with him eating a larger dinner. He's down to 2 ounces, and last night he didn't take anything from his bottle b/c he had a giant dinner. He's 15 months.

I would just cut out the bottles. They definitely don't need a bottle of WCM. Just offer a sippy with meals.

I went cold turkey during the day and it was fine. Continued to nurse morning and night (and weekends) for another 8 months. No problems.

We're trying to transition my 13 month old from two 5oz BM bottles during the day to drinking BM from a cup while I'm at work. So far, she's boycotting, and just eating food/drinking water instead. I pump in the morning and nurse her twice in the afternoon/evening. So maybe just . . . stop?

@pachamama I nurse my 16 month old just AM and PM and my supply is fine for those 2 sessions... I'm usually pretty full by those times. On the weekends we also nurse before nap or maybe 1 other time, I'm not strict about it though. He wants to nurse more if he's tired or not feeling well or whatever which is ok with me. It was a gradual/ natural progression for us to get to this point, he was definitely nursing more at 12m.

So, i think you could try to space the bottles further apart until the first bottle is mid-day and the second one isn't necessary because he'll be home/ready for dinner. Once he's on one bottle, you can gradually replace part of the breastmilk with cows milk (Mon=1oz wcm, 5oz bm. Tues=2oz wcm, 4oz bm. Etc,) until he's on one 6oz bottle of cows milk. Then, you can work on dropping a bottle all together.

This is what daycare helped me do with my older child and it worked very well for us. I think it took a month or so? And I continued to nurse him until he was 2!

We went from nursing all day to just morning and night cold turkey. I imagine you could do the same with bottles. We do water and a snack at the times we used to do milk.

I'd like to drop my 12 month (1 year!!) old's 2 - 6oz daycare bottles. I don't want him drinking a lot of cow's milk (maybe one bottle a day of cows milk), and ideally I want to just nurse him in the morning and night,,.. Or just bedtime, is that possible, once a day?
He already seems much less interested in nursing during the day and is a great eater.
