DH had to step in. It took time, but with only DH around for sleep times, we were able to drop feedings before sleep. Then, the rest followed more easily.

DS was a breeze to wean, but DD 😣 we are just (at 12 months) working on cutting our nursing back to before and after sleeps...instead of all the time. I just say no and whisk LO into a distracting activity. It is much easier if we are not at home. She reeeeeeaaaallly doesn't like to hear no, but ultimately, I'm the boss. I'll probably nurse for another year, I just don't want to nurse all day and all night...

I had a lot of trouble weaning LO1, especially from our after-daycare nursing session. Like yours, my LO wouldn't take no for an answer. My approach was to not go home after daycare. We stayed out until after DH got home from work. It took 3 weeks to break her of the habit. During that 3 week time we were able to drop morning and bedtime sessions with no trouble.

LO2 turns 1 on Saturday and I am about to face the same scenario again.

My 11 month old just weaned. She loved the booby so much that she refused a bottle. We went cold turkey. It was the easiest for me and her I think. Yes, there were some tears and she did refuse to eat for about 15 hours. But I knew she wouldn't starve herself. She eventually took the EBM from the bottle. Then come day 3, she was totally fine with the bottle and even excited about it. I did get a little engorged, but my lactation consultant told me to pump to comfort. It took about 2 weeks to fully dry up. I'm very happy we did it this way. It seemed to be less stressful than weaning over time. I didn't want to have to think about when and if I was giving in to the nursing. Good luck! Everything works differently for everyone! So do what works best for you!

DD is 11 months, and while I don't plan on weaning her soon, I do want to start thinking about it. I would really like to at least be done with pumping by August. DD is a total boob monster - when at home with me she'll nurse every 3 hours or so, even though she eats 3 solid meals and snacks. My boobs are definitely her pacifier :bummed: If I'm around and she wants to nurse, she won't take no for an answer!

How did you wean your boob monster?
