What my lactation consultant told me to do was start pumping ONLY for comfort. Just pump enough to feel some relief. For me that equated to 3 times a day or so for 5 minutes each session. One day after about a week I realized I hadn't punped all day and I was done at that point.
Also drank sage tea. And I took lecithin capsules to help prevent plugged ducts.

I found this site to be really helpful as well:

I can wall you more details of my process if you are interested.

@Becksabee: I would just skip one pump for a few days, maybe a week, then once that one is gone, skip another one. Maybe an overnight pump or last one of the day?

I'm exclusively pumping for my 3 week old, and I'd like to get him switched to 100% formula about the 6 week mark. He's currently getting about 30% breastmilk and 70% formula.

What's the best way to wean from the pump and when should I start? I know you're supposed to gradually decrease the number of pumps per day, but I pump everytime he eats which is every 2-3 hours or 8-10 times per day.
