An empty room with tables and equipment for circumcisions and an area to store the hearing testing machines.

With my first it became an overflow room for NICU babies being prepared for discharge (waiting on bloodwork) since they became extremely busy towards the end of our stay.

At our hospital, babies room in with the mothers. There's a "special care nursery" (level 2 NICU) for babies who need extra medical attention, but most babies only go there to get a quick checkup, vitamin K, etc. I think DD was only out of my room for about 10 minutes the whole time we were in the hospital. The "nursery" room was very small, probably only two babies could be there at a time, and mainly filled with medical equipment like bili lights and monitors.

There was a baby care room in our hospital, it had special bathing sinks and changing stations.

At night, it was the nursery.

I have no idea, haha. We were at the hospital for less than 36 hours, and DD never left our room!

it was directly across from my room - behind the nurses desk, glass window to one side. about 6-8 babies with 1-2 nurses. 2 were under the lights (mine included) and the others were in normal cribs. some c section mums, others with exhausted mums. on one night a father tried to get in and had a confrontation with the nurses, as you cannot enter without a wristband ID.

I just saw it through the window on the tour but not a lot of people send babies to the nursery at the hospital I delivered at. You could, I think, but they don't offer or recommend it. Mostly that is where they take the babies to do the tests, or take babies if a mom was alone and wanted to take a shower. When I saw it there was were only a few basinets in there with people at most of them tending the babies for whatever they were there for.

A glass room with a couple of medical stations, rocking chairs, and swings. They had a few nurses staff it every day.

It looked pretty much how I expected from TV - a big room with huge windows looking in, and a row of bassinets (it was a small-ish hospital). There were about 6-8 babies in there (mine was under the bili lights since she was jaundice)
There was also another room the same size for preemie/sick babies, but it wasn't being used while we were there.
2 nurses were in there all the time, but the other nurses on duty would rotate in and help if needed.

Small room that fit maybe 5 babies, 1-2 nurses on staff IF there were babies in there. That's where the first bath, ect. happened.

Ours was a small room with 1 nurse and a few bassinets. It is only used for babies of c-section moms while mama is still in the recovery room. So there are never many babies and they aren't there for long.

I never saw it! I'm guessing it was more like what you described. Using the nursery wasn't really encouraged but it was there if you asked for it (which I did).

The nursery question thread made me wonder this.

How was your nursery like?

From TV and movies I thought the nursery was like rows and rows of baby with a few nurses tending them when they cried but normally just peacefully sleeping.

Ours was a little different. It was basically a storage room with a big space where there was ONE nurse that sat in the middle of all the baby bassinets surrounding him/her and she would tend them and swirl in her chair looking at each. She normally had 1-6 babies... maybe there would be more nurses if there were more babies?
