The only kind of stressful thing was my one cousin that came has strep throat, he was on medicine and supposedly not contiguous any longer. Hope it's true, we are hosting my in laws this weekend. Which I am super excited for but now I am paranoid that my boys are going to spread the grossness. It was 12 adults, a 10yo and our baby. My husband did most of the cooking but I pitched in along with my mom's cousin and my mom. My parents and cousins came early to help with the baby.</p> <p>We had a great four-course menu and elevated the standard fare a bit. Apps were a cheese plate and chickpea, rosemary and garlic crostini. First course was mushroom bisque. Second course was homemade acorn squash ravioli with brown butter, sage, pine nuts and Parmesan cheese. Main course was spinach- and prosciutto-stuffed turkey breast with sides of oven-roasted root vegetables, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, Brussels sprouts, cranberry sauce and cornbread. It took the bird 11 hours to cook, my MIL's oven caught fire because the roasting pan got a hole in it and was dripping turkey juice (everyone is fine, including the oven), and every time we needed to open the oven, the smoke detector went off. Last year she was only 3 months old and was really overwhelmed with everyone wanting to hold her and being all up in her face. She also required more naps so it was difficult to plan those around everyone else's schedule. This year she was in a great mood and once she warmed up was super social and smiley. We started early with my mother-in-law's family on Wednesday night, then an early lunch at the ILs house day of, only to rush back home and start making our own supper! It was one too many for me but we saw family we rarely saw and the kids got to play with lots of cousins so it was worth it :) I only wish R had slept yesterday. It would have made the day a LOT easier. Not to comfort him (we have already redone bedtime twice), but to keep my ILs from going in to put him to sleep (aka wind him back up) and so I don't have to go down there and listen to them talk about how sad it is he is crying.
