How abour ridiculously comfortable. Haha. I think it is all relative though, no? Right now we are comfortable (small mortgage, no debt, no worries about retirement) and sometimes i wish we had more money (custom dream house, anyone?) but i know there will be tradeoffs, like longer work hours and not having much family time. I dont think i can give up the work-life balance for more money! To me, that would mean owning our house free & clear, zero debt, plenty of money for kids' college, the ability to travel a lot, and enough to give generously to our church and other charities we support. Sometimes I wish I could take the income we make now and move to a way less expensive city than NYC and then we'd be very comfortable. I don't think it's bad, it's kind of something we've been socialized to want. Who doesn't want to provide for their family? I want a house, to pay off my student loans, and have my daughter's college paid for. Not because I want a big house, fancy car, or anything like that. I don't want any of those things, and even if I had the money, I would never buy those things. But because I want to be able to take care of my family should anything ever happen (immediate and extended). I am an extremely stressed out/anxious person, and having money would alleviate that. I don't know why, but I feel responsible for everyone in my family to some degree. So I do want to be ridiculously wealthy. Is that so bad? Do you strive to be comfortable, wealthy, ridiculously wealthy?
