They're actually GREAT together. I feel really lucky. DS1 is 3 years old, and DS2 is 6 months. We've had several things in our favor: for one, DS2 is a REALLY easy baby, who enjoys playing independently and loves just watching DS1, so it's easy to hang out with both kids but let DS1 ostensibly get most of the attention. DS1 was also old enough to really embrace the "I'm a big brother and I'm going to take care of my little brother" role. Finally, my parents live about 40 minutes away and DS1 is REALLY close to them; they often pick both my kids up once a week after school, and they take DS1 overnight on a weekend probably 3 times a month. As a result, DS1 gets a fair bit of time when he is the undisputed center of the universe with his favorite people (I mean, he loves DH and me, but his grandparents are the bomb, as far as he is concerned). We also do a lot of "divide and conquer" tactics so it's more common than not that each kid has one adult's (more or less full) attention.

They have a love-hate relationship for sure. One second they love each other and the next they want to punch each other out. I'd say, though, overall they are best friends b/c I do find them happily playing more often than not. I love watching them play and talk. It's really cute.

So far so good! DS is 3 and DD almost 5 months. DD is a lot more interactive these days, so my son loves playing with her and he is so gentle and sweet. I can't wait until she's a bit bigger and can really play, and watch them grow up together!

My kids have been going through phases. In the past few months my DD has asked to give my DS back on several occasions or trade him for someone else's baby. She definitely developed sibling jealousy late. My DS adores his big sis but sometimes just wants to get a rise out of her by hitting her out of the blue. Most days she loves him, but there are some days she just tolerates him! I'm sure it's all just a phase.

They get along really well! Noelle is such a good big sister, and Jaren's face just lights up whenever she's around. They do fight once in awhile over the same toy (more like Noelle wants the toy that Jaren is holding), but for the most part it's been really good.

I'm way more concerned about how they will get along as grown adults. I know it's all out of our control but I still worry.

I hope they can be life long friends that are a source of support for each other. I would be happy with just the latter. :P

at 16 months and 3 years old, they're really getting along well! they still fight a little bit, but they have so much fun together. I love it!
DD gets the cutest smile on her face when DS talks to us too. She loves that the baby's starting to talk!

I can't wait until they get older. Right now they are both so little, 19m and 2m it's impossible to tell...but DS has adored dd since he met her in the hospital. I just love how he loves her and cares for her so much.

As Olive speaks in increasingly complex sentences, she and Charlie have gotten really close. They love playing together and don't fight very often (usually it's over a toy).

We're lucky that Charlie never showed sibling jealousy after Olive was born, and they keep getting closer as they get older. Whether or not they remain close we'll have to see! I was best friends with my brother but starting from junior high we fought like cats and dogs!
