She sleeps in a travel cot and whenever we can we get somewhere with a separate room or area for her so she can't hear or see us.</p> <p>Though last week we had a few days in London hotel where the room was pretty small and we were all in the same room, so what we did was try and section off the area where her cot was with chairs and some sheets so she couldn't see us. She fell asleep with the TV on, so we could still watch it and there would be background noise. Now that I remember he usually fights bedtime for 2 hour average while traveling, and last night he expressed interest in sleeping in our king bed, I let him sleep in our bed at the usual bedtime time with 1 toy. I explained to him he won't get his blankie if he were to sleep in our bed. He agreed. He won't sleep as usual (while singing and getting up and all) but When I put him back in the crib he would protest and apologize. At 9:15pm he asked for his blankie I said again he only gets his blankie while in the crib and asked if he wanted to go back to the crib. To my surprise, he calmly said yes . I put him back to his crib and within 5 mins he was out!!!</p> <p>I know he still fought bedtime for 2 hours but there were no screaming and crying and almost puking. I didn't feel like a bad parent and/or fearful that someone would call the lobby people to report child neglect as usually we let him CIO at the end ). Omg. She refuses to sleep in any type of travel crib, real crib, pack n play etc. usually for more than an hour while traveling. When we are at family he usually sleeps well. When we are in a hotel and especially when we have to share a room, he doesn't want to go to bed (and doesn't typically sleep in). We recently rented a house at Disney and I thought it was going to he a disaster but he had his own room and slept great. He's good at napping in the car and on the go when needed. Sometimes she would go down with no issues whatsoever and sleep in. Other times she would fight it for a couple hours and wake up super early. She is very comfortable at my parent's house, but still wakes up at least twice a night, and sometimes has trouble going back down. It doesn't help that we are often sharing a room there. It usually takes her awhile to go down for the night, too, unless she is completely exhausted.<br /> I can usually get her to take a good nap if I can get it dark in the room, but if that doesn't work she will pass out in the stroller or carrier, so we go for a walk.</p> <p>Places she is less comfortable are generally worse. Like, an hour to fall asleep, and then waking up several times and not being able to go back down for awhile. Good to know your sleep well anywhere!</p> <p>Yes he is used to sleeping alone. we used to try to get a suite when we can, but lately we don't even care becuz that doesn't seem to matter. He screams louder if he doesn't see us when he stands up in his crib! We bring his blankie which will usually become soaking wet by the time he sleeps. Gross! We used to use white noise from iPad when he was a baby but he is too old for that. I am just not really the type that wants to watch tv with him until he falls asleep. Sigh.</p> <p>We used to rent and download a bunch of movies thinking we could watch movies while LO is asleep. At least he's a great sleeper at home...I think many would kill for that alone</p> <p>We've only traveled a few times with LO (across the country). The last time she was 16 months old. She fortunately sleeps great even when we travel. We make sure to stay at a place that is set up like a suite and we put the pack n play in the living area and we stay in the bedroom. That way she had her own space without us distracting her. We bring her loveys (2 stuffed animals), her sound machine and our video monitor. For naps we moved the pack n play in the bedroom and we stayed in the living area so we could go in and out. </p> <p>Does your LO have a lovey? Does he usually sleep alone? I'm sure he's just all wound up and super stimulated from all the activity of traveling. Sorry it's been so tough. Between 730-930 It would be a series of chatting, singing, requests (to get water, milk...etc), to full on tantrum and meltdown. We always go from telling him to go to sleep to sternly warning him to completely ignoring him even if he melts down (becuz the more we try to help him to sleep the more awake he gets).</p> <p>We always have to pretend to sleep at 7:30 and sometimes we would be asleep while he is still up and talking. Argh</p> <p>Its been like that since we first travel when he was 4 months. He is now 2.5 years old.</p> <p>In fact, I am in one of those nights. Sigh. </p> <p>When will this ever end?</p> <p>Any tips would be lovely too. </p>
