Staying out of trouble was pretty easy, since all my friends were also dorks. I don't think we would have been able to find a party if we tried!<br /> When I got to college, I definitely drank too much (and paid for it with 2-day hangovers), but was still a dork. Besides underage drinking (in college) the worst thing I did was get my belly button pierced. Junior year kinda got out of control, but mostly unbeknownst to my parents. I did the usual hs parties, dated bad buys, but no drugs or sex. I had straight As, was head cheerleader, very active in school activities, was in just about every club a small town offers, but I was a party girl. I smoked/drank, snuck out of my parent's house, hungout with an older crowd, had sex with then boyfriend (but not until I was 17.) I didn't drink or smoke, always earned good grades, and was really active in my high school's show choir, but I was incredibly depressed, moody, suicidal, and just plain nasty to my parents a lot of the time. I worry a lot about my future children inheriting my depression and/or nasty disposition. </p> <p>I also totally lied to my parents and snuck out of the house all the time senior year to go sleep with my boyfriend or hang out with my friends more after my check-in at curfew. What if my kids do that? Aaaah! I didn't do drugs, have sex, drink or anything but I was severely depressed, suicidal, self-harming, and dealt with eating/weight issues. It was a really rough time for me and not one I look on fondly.</p> <p>Depression runs in my family, and my mom still suffers with it occasionally. I was a straight A student athlete, runner up for friendliest - so not a mean girl, no sexy time or drugs or even alcohol, basically a goody goody. And yet I still managed to be an ahole. I drove way too fast, hardly dated but when I did would fall for the 'bad' boys, lied to my parents, snuck around. </p> <p>Ack.....I guess everyone goes through a phase, I just worry how I'll relate to my daughter when she goes through hers. </p>
