We are EXTREMELY disciplined about nap and sleep times. We rearrange our lives around his sleep schedule. On weekends and when on trips we sometimes push his bedtime, but in general we are total sleep nazis.

@Andrea: When we have family visiting, I'll have LO stay up later. I figure the grandparents only see her a few times a year.

We'll shift by up to an hour on naps or bedtime, but no more than that. DD (and soon DS) goes to daycare, so she's used to a very strict schedule.

Not very, because my son's a terrible sleeper. If he got 12 hours at night, I'd be more flexible, but at most he gets 10, so his daytime naps are still super important.

LO is 10.5 weeks old but doesn't really have a set nap schedule. She takes three naps a day but they stil vary in duration. If we are out then I still try to put her down every 1-1.5 hours, but it's hard if we are in the car for long since she sleeps during car rides and it throws her off completely. Her bedtime us around 8 and I moved it back twice since we were at family dinners. Those times she went to bed by 1030 latest and we have been able to go right back to regular bedtime the following night. I try not to do that too often though.

We're pretty flexible with stuff like this because our DDs can sleep in the stroller or baby carrier while on the go...

LO is fairly flexible with naps and bedtimes so it usually varies each day. Lo gives off very strong cues when a nap/bed time is required so we just work with it. Bedtime varies between 7 - 8 pm, depending on LO and we stick to that generally.

I'm pretty willing to move around naps and bedtime, but I know that if I do that too many days in a row I will pay the price for it, so I try not to do it too often if I can help it.

DS has been pretty flexible since birth. He was never on a set schedule when he was a newborn. We tried to just follow his cues. He generally mapped and went to bed around the same time most days, but he would skip naps some days and his bed time has shifted between 7:30 and 8:30 for the last year. He adapts to daycare's schedule during the week well though. We really don't have a set routine compared to many.

My oldest nap times are usually between 2-3pm depending on what we're doing that day. Sometimes he goes down at 4pm b/c we get home so late. Somehow we make it work, even if it results in a later bed time. He's not as cranky like when he was younger when he doesn't get enough sleep at night. :)

Our LO is on the super flexible routine. Her bed times and nap times change and as long as she gets 11-12 hours at night she's a happy girl. She's always seemed to have a sleepy day followed by a very wakeful day as far as naps go. I've tried a couple times to get her on a more regular schedule and she's just not as happy when she's supposed to nap the same duration every day.

we only started moving charlie's bedtime in the past couple of months because our friends put their kids to bed later and we have playdates.

before that he was in bed at 7:30 on the dot every night and we never scheduled things for his nap or bedtime.

we definitely move olive's naps and bedtimes around every weekend!

It depends. I try to have her home at nap time, but if we're out and in the stroller she's usually fine.

I didn't at all when the LO was very young but then we slowly started to move naps around a bit if we needed to on the weekends in order to get together with friends. In general, I still try not to schedule anything during her nap time even now. I don't think I have EVER changed her bedtime in two years, though.
