Mostly because in my first 2 years of parenting I had 2 babies, 19 months apart. It wasn't that bad, but DD STTN early on so I guess I returned to regular life pretty quickly. I would say the first year was just learning the ropes since they change so quickly during that year. I don't feel like I'm "in prison" because we have big families who are always offering to watch DS so that we can have date nights and alone time, but it's definitely the hardest, most rewarding, tiring, and exciting job I've ever had! Just when I started feeling comfortable with how old LO was and started wanting to get him out and about more, I was well into my second trimester with my youngest. So during much of the second year I was dealing with a newborn and a toddler! I'm not Super Mom, as much as I'd like to be, so I mostly stayed home until DD hit 6 months.
