We changed the lighting fixture, replaced the mirror -- not as large as yours, but it had a big heavy overbearing frame -- and painted. We also replaced our towels. It looks so much better! I will try to find a link to the fixtures we used. I recommend looking up Ferguson if you want to shop for bathroom fixtures. I personally am not a fan of open shelving above the toilet though. I would also see if the lighting could be changed and new paint. Changing the light fixture would be cheap, but you will likely have to repair the wall (same if you take down the mirror.
