My DD (almost 5) was not interested in the AG dolls at all during a recent AG birthday party that she went to. In fact, she was confused and thought all the brunette dolls were the same, even though there are subtle differences in hair style, skin tone, etc. That told me she isn't ready at all to appreciate one, and I was relieved not to be having to struggle over an expensive doll at this age. I heard from other parents that 9 is about the right age when they are really enjoying it, as well as the story behind the girls.

I plan on getting all the books for LO and once she asks for one I will get her one. I always wanted one and never got one, so I want to make sure LO gets one!

I was 8 or 9 when I got mine. I had wanted one for years! I think 6-8 is a good age

I got mine at five. Gt a lot of use out of it that way, instead of just a few years.

Like 5 if I think she is responsible with her other toys. If she can prove she can take care of her stuff.

Ellie was five. She now has two and takes very good care of them. But I would say she is unusually careful for her age.

We have already bought our LO a doll because the doll she shares a name with was being retired. We bought the books and will read them to her. Hopefully reading the books will get her interested in having a doll and as soon as she shows interest we'll give the the doll the following Christmas.

To just have one, I was planning to buy my child a Girl of the Year in the year they were born, but I had a boy.

To play with, whenever they want. I am not sure I see the value in having a doll that they can't play with how they want.

I think she would have to be old enough to know how to take care of things. I would also hope she appreciates the books before she gets the doll. I always thought 9 was a good age for one.

I think I got my Samantha in late elementary school, so 7 or 8? I wish I knew where it was so I'd have one already if LO was into them!

I was 7 when I received mine. I ended up cutting Samantha's hair, so age 8 would probably have been best.

I was 9 or 10 when I got my one AG doll... I feel like it was a good age for it... But recently, girls have been getting into it younger and younger.

My DD is 5 years old and still hasn't asked for an AG doll, even though we've passed by the store a zillion times. She's just not into it yet. I'd say I'll probably get her one (if she wants it) at around 6-8 yo.
