3 months was the first time I flew with DS and by far the easiest. He basically slept the whole time.

I didn't even give flying with him a second thought at this age. I'm more hesitant now that he is over two and doesn't stay still!

I flew long haul (Hong Kong to Maui - 3 flights totaling a about 20 hours of travel in full) with a 10 week old....honestly that was the easiest trip I ever took with her! I was not concerned at all about being on the plane with her; I only would have been concerned if the destination was a developing country where she really should have had immunizations she wasn't eligible for because of her age.

We're planning to fly with baby at 10 weeks! I would probably say that the first month is probably younger than I'd feel comfortable with, but that's also when you're still healing from delivery, which may actually be the bigger concern, at that point. Once the kid can get the 2 month shots, I'd have no concerns at all.

I flew with a 10 week old. He did great. I babywore and kept him tucked under the nursing cover the whole time. I think it's easier to travel with them when they are that young.

I'm flying in August with a 20 month old, now this going to suck (plus I'll have my 3 year old, 5 year old and I'll be 20 weeks pregnant)

We did our first flight at barely 3 months, and it was the easiest of all the flights we've taken with her (8 flights before 10 months). She was snuggled up against me in the carrier, tiny enough that her head/face was protected by the Ergo, and she slept the entire time, both ways

We flew cross-country last week, and we are flying overseas this week. LO is 11 weeks. I'd asked his ped if she thought it was okay before we even starts looking at tickets, and she encouraged us to go ahead for both trips, since LO would have had his first round of vaccines by then, and since I'm breastfeeding I confer some additional immunity onto him.

LO slept for most of the two flights (more than he normally does during the day due to the airplane white noise), and didn't have any problems with his ears. I held him in tr burping position supporting his head (as per the flight attendant's instructions) on takeoff and landing, but fed him once we'd gained a little bit of altitude. I think that helped prevent any issues. I'd say go for it, and enjoy your time with your family.

We flew around 6 weeks with M to go see my family for Christmas and it was fine! I wore her a lot and just covered her head with a Muslin cloth if people were nearby and made sure to sanitize the entire seating area where we sat on the flight

Following! DS due 8/25, we are planning to fly for Christmas (so, probably mid December) home to see family - it will be just one short 2 hour flight. I have been thinking that as long as he's full term and healthy, it should be fine.

We flew with our daughter around 9 weeks, I wanted to make sure she had her first set of vaccinations, so it would have been hard for me to convince myself it was ok any earlier than 8 weeks. That's just my germophobic opinion thought :)

The first time DD flew was at 2 months and she did great. It was a short 2 hour flight though. We relied on the pacifier a lot to soothe her. She slept the entire time.

We did a first international flight at 3.5 months. I think under 1 month I wouldn't do it. Under 2 months, I'd really have to think about it. Baby-wearing will be your best friend! Good Luck!

We are planning on taking our twins across the country (5-6 hr direct flight) for Christmas to meet both families. I will be 38 weeks on Oct 2nd and that's the longest my OB will let them stay in. So based on that, the youngest they will be will be 11-12 weeks old.

My plans are to buy an extra seat and have a car seat put in the middle seat, so one of us can rest our arms or go to the bathroom. In addition, we will both baby wear. I think baby wearing, using a cover for the car seat and a cover if I need to breast feed will hopefully protect them from any airborne germs.

My OB says we should definitely get the okay from our pediatrician.

Btw, thanks for asking this question. I've been wondering about this, as well.

We are planning to fly for the holidays when LO2 will probably be about 2.5-3 months old. I'm planning on babywearing (and sanitizing so hopefully my will-be-3-y/o won't get sick on the plane either) but I know there's still the risk of viruses and what not on the plane. We flew with dd right when she turned 4 months.

What do you think? Is this too young? We may not get the chance to spend the holidays with this side of the family for years to come!

ETA, it's just one flight, several hours.
