I work with a lot of women and just didn't want all the attention right away. I told friends slowly, just as I saw them, didn't do a big announcement. I didn't want to for a long time because pregnancy announcements hurt so much when we were TTC and struggling with our losses. But in the end, there were a few people who I wanted to know that were most easily accessible through FB, so we decided to do it. We did it right around Christmastime, when I was almost in my third trimester. The reason I would is b/c it's easy, and so people are not trying to guess from cryptic wall posts, or trying to spot a bump in my pictures, etc. On the other hand, I'm afraid I might forget to tell someone and they'd be annoyed that they found out on FB! I'm now 15 weeks and will not make it Facebook public until after our 20 week scan. I want the full anatomy scan and to know my baby is fully healthy before making that big announcement to the world. Also I am LOVING having it as still a bit of "our little secret". Other than that, we've told people as we've talked to them, but haven't posted anything on FB (and probably won't). I expect some photos to show up there soon though, and I won't try and hide or deny it. Local friends and work also pretty early, because we needed the support-6 or 7 weeks. Close friends after our NT scan at 13 weeks, and FB at 25. I was nervous telling our close friends after our NT, but it ended up being great. Everyone was very happy for us. I say do what feels comfortable. You don't have to do it right away, and you don't have to do it all at once. If you're anxious, go slowly. We miscarried that one, and the next time, we waited until heartbeat was confirmed by ultrasound at 8 weeks and told family (parents, siblings). Waited until 14-15 weeks to tell everyone else. I'm very close to my family so it makes no sense not to tell them right away! Even if something happens, I know they'll be there to support me. I also told my bff b/c I promised to tell her right away and I also know she'll be there for me no matter what. My SIL actually asked us point blank this past weekend so we had to fess up! Turns out she's expecting too! I don't know if she suspected, or she asked because she is? Haha. I am holding off telling DH's parents until we are further along; maybe 8 weeks? I am okay with telling them before the 12 week mark since they're family. I'm still thinking about what to do after 1st trimester. Probably start by telling other relatives (I'm waiting to tell g-ma & aunts till then), close friends that I don't get to see often, then people I see all the time, and I'm still debating whether to FB it or not! We haven't made it fully public knowledge yet. My husband would have told the whole world by now, but I'm the one holding us back. I think it's a combination of fear, but also feeling like any last bit of privacy is gone and the attention will increase (I'm shy). How/when did you decide to just tell everyone?
