Shortly after I started dating DH, when I was 28. For years, I had said either I didn't want kids or I wasn't anywhere ready yet. I also didn't want to be pregnant - the whole idea scared me and creeped me out, so I wanted to adopt. I didn't really like kids, I felt like I couldn't relate to them (whatever that meant) and they just stared at me blankly instead of responding. After I started dating DH, I started "noticing" babies more. I didn't even hold a baby until I was 30, but I was already in the baby rabies category. I wanted so badly to start to TTC before the wedding, but we didn't know our financial position quite yet. For me, the whole kit and kaboodle came down a little before we got engaged. We had a scare, and I took a test, and realized for the first time in my life, I wasn't terrified the result would be +. I knew I wanted to be pregnant, carry it, have it, coo over it, and raise it, all with DH. It just took time to get there.

My clock has been ticking for most of my relationship with my now DH. I have always wanted children but was happy to spoil my nieces and nephews in the mean time. The ticking seems to have gotten louder since we got married in October, we are planning to try in the spring.

@Sprite: I feel exactly the way you do!! I'm 31, and technically, I don't FEEL my clock ticking at all... no intense "I must have a baby" feelings. I keep wondering if there is something wrong with me, haha.

But like you said, intellectually I know that it SHOULD be ticking and so we have plans to TTC this year (scary!!) Luckily, Hellobee makes me feel like I safe place to come to about all this stuff :)

Maybe when I was 30.5? We started TTC then...I wasn't in the baby rabies category until a few months after we started TTC though. I thought it would happen sooner since DH and I started dating when I was 21, but it didn't!

I turned 30 in October, but my clock started ticking loudly this past summer. I went from saying I never wanted to have kids to mapping out a timeline of exactly when DH and I will start trying. Something clicked - not just my age, but when we were out visiting DH's family I got such a warm feeling of what his childhood was like and I just knew we were meant to be parents :)

I'm 26 and I wouldn't say my clock is ticking, but I do have baby fever now. It didn't start until I got pregnant and had a miscarriage. 6 months ago when we first decided to start trying, I was very relaxed about it and ok if it didn't happen for 6 months to a year. Now that I've been pregnant, it's like it's taken over and I feel like some days it's all I think about. I definitely feel like my womb aches, but I think that's due to the loss.

I've always wanted a family so as soon as the hubs and I got married we started thinking about it. It never got to the point where I was feeling upset that we weren't starting sooner or I never went through a crazy "I need a kid NOW!" phase but the desire was really there.

I got married when I was 26, and I really started thinking about having kids when I turned 28. Like MerryC I never liked babies, but I really wanted a family when I was young-ish. Were it not for that ticking clock, I would have been happy to wait another 5 years.

@MERRYC YES! You articulated it so much better than I. The idea of building a family is where I'm at, just not the ovary aching yet!

My baby fever started full force a few months after we were married this past June. I'm only 22 so its probably not the biological clock ticking at this point. But DH and I are so excited to start a family and we'll be TTC in a few months!

Around 26 and being married 1.5 years, I was like, "oh a family would be nice, let's start planning". And the desire kind of stepped up about every few months from there.

But I will say that it was less "omg, my ovaries ache, I want a super cute baby" and more "I want a family". That's kind of how I read that you're feeling, and that's totally normal :)

I started getting baby crazy when I was 25. I had just broken up with my boyfriend of 7 1/2 years and was living with my parents. I felt pretty lost, so I was doing a lot of art to try to figure my feelings out. Everything I drew looked like a womb or a nest or something that had to do with babies. I don't know why it happened then, but it did. I just had to kind of ignore it since I was single ...but 6 months later I met my hubby and we agreed when we got engaged that we wanted to ttc right away.

i'm young by hellobee standards, but in my neck of the woods, it's totally normal for people to be married by 21 and having babies by 22-23. my mom started popping out babies at 20!

that being said, it seems my "baby rabies" started on my 23rd birthday. we're not financially ready for it yet, but we're saving like crazy so we can start TTC in the next couple months. my husband and i are both family people, and we're both really, really excited to start our own family!

First, I just want to say how grateful I am to have found this site! It's such a wealth of knowledge, I've been reading this whole past weekend :) But I have a question, that I didn't see a discussion for on here already.

How and when did your biological clock start ticking? What did it feel like when it started "ticking" and how old were you?

I'm at an age where my clock should definitely start ticking soon, we have a TTC plan for next year, and intellectually I know I want children (although I'm much more looking forward to the imparting knowledge and raising them to be good people part, than the infant stage and the actually being pregnant part). But I keep reading baby sites and blogs, and see comments like "my uterus pangs when I see a cute baby," or "I have baby rabies." None of these intense "OMG, I must have a baby now!" urges have kicked in for me yet, so I'm just wondering how many of you've felt that way before you TTC? Or did anyone NOT feel their biological clock ticking, but still wanted kids?
