Same time as Twinkle Twinkle and Baa Baa Black Sheep. She's been working on it for about two months (they must sing it a lot at daycare).</p> <p>She knows letters from her Melissa &amp; Doug puzzle but only as the word that matches the letter. For example she will tell you the 'W' piece is 'whale'. She doesn't get that 'W' is 'W'. We have a playmat that has the alphabet on it so each day, we would point to and identify different letters. I don't know if that was a coincidence or if she really "got it" once she could see the letters or because we played with it everyday. She could sing most of the song first and started identifying the letters after that. She was around 22 months. </p> <p>ETA: I think I misremembered the time so I changed that above! Plus I wanted to add that she seemed to get it earlier than her daycare buddies. She was in almost the exact same place as your LO a month or so ago. I definitely think she could sing the song before she recognized all the letters on paper. We didn't do anything special-- sang the song, read some ABC related books, etc. She did get a Melissa and Doug chunky alphabet puzzle for her birthday which also helped with letter recognition, I think. I occasionally let him play an app on the iPad, and we play letter games at home. I am actually impressed...he's 26 months and can sing the whole alphabet and recognize almost all his letter identification. The first four letters and then Q, R, S, T, U, V, although sometimes it comes out jumbled. She can identify only about 2-3 letters correctly on paper though. </p> <p>How old was your LO when they learned the alphabet? Could they sing the song/identify the letters at the same time, or did one come before the other? Did you use anything to help them learn, or just sing the song with them? </p>
