@BabyPenguinXO: Took me forever to get it also. It stands for you. Basically time for you to do whatever you need to do while the baby sleeps.

Also, we dealt with reflux, so she wasn't allowed to lay down for 30 minutes after eating, so we had to keep her up but couldn't bounce/jolt/move her too much...there was a fine line of keeping her stimulated without causing her to lose her entire bottle.

We just fed him as soon as he woke up, then changed his diaper. He was always ready for a little bit of playtime after that...then when he was ready for a nap we would put him to bed.

For us, we fed when hungry, we had to follow her lead, there was no way around it. I did make sure to not rock when feeding, that was a sure way for her to sleep, and I always kept all the blinds open during the day/light in when I wanted her to be awake so there was no confusion.

Some people have luck with the EASY schedule, and our ped said the Activity could be as simple as a diaper change at that age. I wasn't a fan, as it made it much harder to get him to sleep (especially at night).

We implemented this with our LO when we found he wasn't really doing well with feeding to sleep. Our schedule looked like this:

Wake to feed
Play for an hour
Rocked to sleep

The bad habit we formed was rocking to sleep, but he was super colicky, so we were holding him constantly. We would always wake to feed though until it was time for bed.

EDIT: When I say wake to feed, I mean that we would wait for him to wake up, then feed him. We never woke a sleeping baby! Especially throughout the night!

Hi ladies,

With my son he was always in the habit of going to sleep after eating. I would like to not start that habit this time and get this babe to eat AFTER sleeping. Or is this the wrong way? My DS was bottle fed after 2-3 months but with this baby I'm hoping to EBF for the most part. I don't mind nursing to sleep before bed and in the MTTN wake ups. But during the day I would like to avoid that because I think baby eats better when they are alert and awake. I think this will help encourage better night sleeping if she can get most her food during the day!

any tips for this or when did you start doing that? the downfall is I will be delivering early so baby could have a longer period of the newborn sleepiness.
