@court_schaeff: well at that point in your cycle the hcg would have been detected if you are pregnant. Unless some fluke that you were just ovulating around CD30. Like I said before if there is no hcg being detected then there probably isn't going to be anything on an ultrasound. It's not until levels of like 8-10k that a fetal pole and baby can be seen.

I agree with others you just either need to wait for AF and chalk this up to a crazy cycle or you need to call a doctor and maybe talk about inducing your period so you can keep trying (maybe with temping and opk this time so you know when you ovulated.

@court_schaeff: The sore boobs could be a reflection of your period coming, your hormones being imbalanced... Not necessarily of pregnancy.

At the risk of sounding mean, I personally would call my gyno Monday morning and request an appointment ASAP. I would not wait until my second missed period -- I did some internet sleuthing and the chances are slim (but definitely not none) that you are pregnant. That means if you wait until the 27th you are completely skipping an opportunity (potentially 2) to TTC. Once I saw my gyno, I would accept whatever they told me and formulate a course of action - whether it be take medicine to jump start my period, do an ultrasound, or whatever.

I assume when you went to the doctor for the blood work when you were sick you said you thought you might be pregnant but weren't sure? If so, they should have run beta's (aka checked your HCG levels). HCG is pretty vital in the baby making process within your body, so it would be very strange if none was detected after 4 weeks.

Lastly, have you thought about getting opks? Some women get sore breasts around ovulation - with your period about a week away, maybe you are ovulating the second time around and just had a random non-period cycle?

All that said, I'm really hoping for the best for you! I know this has been so tough and you've been such a trooper!

@court_schaeff: well I think the first question would be did they even do HCG test during the blood work. But yes assuming it was a normal cycle (and therefore you ovulated normally) that timing would work and it should show up there.

What was the purpose of the testing?

If I haven't started my period by the 27th, I am getting another blood test and/or ultrasound. That'd be two missed periods. There's just an uneasy feeling that I could be and I'm not taking any precautions. I won't be satisfied until I have my period or physically see an empty ultrasound. I'm feeling crazy

I have no idea what blood work I had done. I haven't taken a t in over a week as well. When I took the bloom work it was two weeks after missed period which would have been late enough to show up right? @T.H.O.U.:

@court_schaeff: what bloodwork did you have done? Betas? And it was negative? When is the last time you took a HPT? Bloodwork should pick it up right away but unless you were still too early when the bloodwork was done. Unfortunately if nothing is being picked up on the HCG then an ultrasound isn't going to show anything. If anything you could ask to redo the bloodwork.

I'm driving myself nuts. My nipples have been sore for well over a week now. I just took off my bra for the night and I seriously almost cried because my breasts hurt so badly. It literally felt like boulders were released. Ive NEVER had that feeling before. I still have yet to start my period. After a negative HPT and blood test, Ive quit taking my prenatals for now.

If I don't start my period within the next or so, I want a ultrasound done. Its driving me nuts. Would this be a ridiculous request?

I used the cheapy brands and they worked fine. Some people like the (more expensive) digital "smiley" ones because they are easier to interpret. Once you know what a positive looks like though, it's really easy to tell if you have one or not.

@court_schaeff: You don't need to temp to use OPKs. Lots of women use them stand alone! However, temping is the best way to confirm you actually O'd. OPKs predict O, but they don't pinpoint it exactly.

Basically you should start using OPKs a few days before when you think you are about to O and continue to use them everyday until you get a positive.

Unfortunately, O can still bounce around from cycle to cycle, but if you seem to be consistent after tracking/using OPKs a few times then you could start just assuming when O is happening.

@court_schaeff: To sum it up, you pee on them and they tell you how much LH (Luteinizing hormone) is in your system. If you get a line as dark or darker than the control line than that means your LH is surging. Since LH surges 24-48 hours before you O, you can more accurately see when you are about to O and BD appropriately! :)

I would definitely start using opk's or charting to help with pinpointing ovulation. I thought I was ovulating like "everyone else" and found out we weren't even trying in the right time frame once I starting temping and taking opk's.
