I paid $300 at a private diagnostic facility. But if your insurance covers infertility, I think they would cover it fully.

Mine was covered as diagnostic, not fertility treatment. Your RE's office should be able to call your ins company to make sure. I think I paid $60 out of pocket...

@MK0180: My HSG was covered as a diagnostic fertility test even though actual fertility treatment itself (in my case, IVF) was not covered.

You could get the hsg code from your Dr and then call your insurance company and ask if the hsg procedure is covered, using the code provided.

When i had mine done, i didn't have to pay anything because i had dual coverage, but i still made the call to the insurance company just to double check.

Great question, I've wondered the same myself, we just got back a clean SA and my doctor wants me to do an HSG next cycle. My insurance has been pretty good about covering tests so far, but I know infertility becomes a big grey area.

Our insurance covered fertility treatments and testing up to a certain amount. I think all we had to pay was the copay. If we had to pay out of pocket I think the cost would have been close to the same as what you were quoted. Just make sure it includes the radiologists portion, I noticed when our insurance was billed that was a separate cost.

Well, we are in month 11 and I have scheduled an HSG. For those who had this done, did you have to pay out of pocket or did insurance cover it? I contacted my insurance company and they said they cover fertility testing and that's it. Is HSG consider a test (even though it's an xray)? The receptionist said that if I have to pay out of pocket it's $1500 - yikes!
