This happened to a little girl I used to care for- her family pushed her too hard, too early and we ended up using suppositories... It was miserable for us all- but I felt for her. My son is over three and still not comfortable pooping in the toilet and that's okay with me- I will not force him before he's ready! We introduced all of it and he gets it- he just needs to commit.

This is my fear with my semi potty resistant daughter who will be three in September.. I just have slowed things down a lot.. If we get to three and its still not happening I might be worried though... I wish I had better advice to give. Edited for typos!!

My two year old (almost three in August) had a major potty training setback... We have been talking about the potty a lot but she's been really against the whole thing. We really haven't been pushing but this past weekend she started asking to sit on the potty which we really encouraged and thought it was a sign she was ready. Three days pass and we realize that she has not pooped in three days and is acting weird. We were at the park and she was just uncomfortable and constantly asking to change her diaper which was bone dry. She was really irritable and we went back to the house and she turned to outright hysterics complaining of lower stomach pain. We also realized that at this time she hadnt peed in 12 or so hours and was holding everything in. After a worried call to the pedi, a kiddie fiber pill, and a hot bath everything is fine but come to find this is something that happens with potty training?! Where do we go from here?
