@NYCaliMama: Yes, they all do. The natural ones just have a blend of wheat/corn fibers with substantially reduced SAP and more layers between.
I hate being forced to use them (my daycare is behind the times and doesn't allow cloth) so I just try to get the least harmful ones. Honest or Nurtured by Nature.

I didn't get the specks with Huggies, but they leaked almost every time. Now Im back to swaddlers and don't think I'll ever change again!

I've read that all disposable diapers on the market right now have SAP... It's what makes them so absorbent. Some brands have more SAP than others, but yes including 7th Gen, the Honest Company and other "natural" brands.

The exception is Tushies... they claim not to have any SAP.

Yep. It's the stuff that soaks up the liquid in the diaper. It's called SAP, Sodium Polyacrylate.

@chopsuey119: really?! never had that problem.

I used huggies the natural one and the same thing happened!! I was livid. I know that those little crystals are mini-chemical balls and I was so mad that even with the natural brand they were on his bum. ugh. totally eeked me out.

@MsMamaBear: they totally scare me too.

I've used Huggies since birth and never had this issue?
I didn't like the way the pampers fit her.

We used Huggies for awhile, and I never noticed the specks... that sounds icky, though :( We went back to Pampers b/c Huggies gave LO a diaper rash...

@LAGS: yeah I used swaddlers for the first month then cloth diapers, then when she started daycare at 12 weeks we tried huggies for the first day and i hated it! so we are back to swaddlers. I took all the boxes of huggies back to the store. So many people use huggies I was so disappointed by them. Plus if you compare them side by side to swaddlers you can tell the diference just by feeling it

@Mrsbells: Thank you, I would have never thought to read the box! So weird, because I don't find them to be as absorbent as our swaddlers yet these things are everywhere. I'm really not a fan either? I feel like I can never get them all off.

yes its from the absorbent gel in the diapers. It says on the box that this is normal and not harmful but I quit using huggies after one day because I didnt like the getllumps on my baby's butt plus she broke out in bumps

We use disposables but usually Pampers of one variety or another.

We'd been gifted some Huggies so I've been using them for the past few days and have noticed when wiping LO down she has these little specs, or gritty clear dotties that get stuck to her skin. The only thing I can think is it's something from the liner of the diaper?

Have you noticed this? Is it normal?

FWIW they're huggies little movers. I dunno if that makes a difference.
