@gingerbebe: Where can I get this one? Is it a specific model? Our crane is so difficult to keep clean... thanks!

We use the Honeywell units with filters. They are like $30 bucks. I switched everyone to them because the Crane ones got gross no matter if we used filtered water or not. The Honeywell ones work well, hold a lot of water, and the filter keeps the unit clean. And it's actually a very effective white noise machine!

@Foodnerd81: my only tip is just be careful to not jostle it when it's full of water. When you want to drain it, take off the top and then do that first, and then I soak up some of the remaining water with a towel before moving the base. You don't want to accidentally get water into the motor area.

@DesertDreams88: oh good- I just ordered that on amazon last night. It’s cheap enough that if it breaks down in a couple years I’ll do more research on a better one then.

We have an Air Innovations one that we got from QVC last year at the recommendation from my sister. Seems to cover a larger area and doesn’t get as gunky as other ones we have used.

@Ms. RV: we have oil heat and baseboard radiators. So I don’t know if we can do the whole house thing, but I am looking into it. But I think that’s going to be more than the $50 or so for another Crane. :bummed:

What kind of heat do you have? If you have forced air, you could get a humidifier that attaches to your furnace and humidifies the whole house. We are probably getting one installed after this winter because I am sick of the constant fill ups too. I use a Crane cool mist now in my bedroom.

We have the Crane animal humidifiers for both kids rooms and they are fine- cool mist because it’s safer. I find it annoying to refill and dump out the water but I assume that’s all of them.

What kind of humidifier do you like for yourself? Is there a benefit to warm mist versus cold? Anything else to keep in mind before I buy myself one? My house is already so dry I had two nose bleeds this week!!
