We close the door and it's on its lowest setting. And we just put it on her Ikea Expedit shelf.

I just put ours on the rug..oh well. It is the cheap Vicks one and the directions didn't say no rugs, just some other surfaces. Unfortunately there's no level setting so I do close her door but crack her window, turn the fan on low or eventually open her door when she is asleep. Otherwise it looks like a rainforest in there :(

We do empty & refill every night.

I'm in love ! LO's congestion is so much better after sleeping with the humidifier ! We his highchair tray has an additional top snap in tray so we used that!

Instructions say to empty water daily. Do you all do that ?

Never thought about shutting the door; I should start doing that!

@coacheswife123: I've always wondered the same thing about what surface you are supposed to put it on. We put LO's humidifier on the metal radiator cover in his room.

I always shut the door and used a low/medium setting. I put it on a hard plastic placemat from Target.

I close the door and use the lowest setting too I believe.
I set it on her laminate floor and don't put it on a towel. It's a really light mist so no moisture accumulates. But every humidifer is different.

We only use one when he's sick and sometimes when we're forced to turn on the heat (which isn't often). We always keep the door shut. When he's sick, we keep it cranked up to get the room nice and moist and when the heater's on, we just keep it on low, which doesn't make the room feel too much different, but does help with the dryness. And ours is on a wood bookshelf with a washcloth underneath.

1. Do you leave your LO door open when you use one ? We always shut LO door when he sleeps . I put it on the lowest setting and shut the door .

2. What do you put yours on. Our manual says not to put it on carpet, wood or a towel ? I have his on a table right now (wood) but am wondering what the heck kind of surface they expect you to use ? Glass? Cookie sheet on the floor (ha!)
