If you're planning on going elsewhere, go early. Don't think that just going inland will be good, because often hurricanes can spur tornadoes. All the other tips are great too!</p> <p>Oh, if you're not in an evac zone and you're staying in place, stock up EARLY. Don't wait until the day before it's supposed to bear down to do your shopping. If you're worried, I'd do your shopping for water and food, etc. now. </p> <p>Don't forget to remove any potential projectiles from your yard/outdoor area. Chairs, grills, even rock mulch can do lots of damage to your house or others!</p> <p>And most of all, don't freak out. Food that doesn't require electricity or refrigeration (if it looks like the power might go off for a few days). Depending on the size/strength of the storm, and your location to the storm, you might want to board up your windows. I'm not sure what additional tips you would need as a pregnant woman, though. It will take most rescue organizations 3 days to get set up with other supplys. Though I would try to make sure I had enough for at least 1 full week. </p> <p>Fill up you bath tub and any other buckets avalible with water too. Use this for "bathing", brushing your teeth, and flushing the toilet. Tornados during hurricanes are rare and you will be thankful for the water. Plus an interior closet is best for Tornadoes anyway so I am learning...</p> <p>Grab extra bags of ice for your fridge/freezer. As long as you arent in and out of it the food inside will stay cool and good for a while (2-3 days like an ice chest). Make an inventory of the food inside...your insurance may pay you back for food that spoils.</p> <p>Get a battery powered radio for weather updates/tornado warnings. Don't get totally blindsided.
