I was more weirded out than DH! When I got my pump, I wanted to try it out (before LO was born) just to see what it was like. I warned DH that I was going to use it, and even covered up with a nursing cover, he was so mad that he didn't get to see what was going on, so he grabbed the cover off. He thought it was cool. And he thought it was a good moment to drop that line from Meet the Parents: "I have nipples, Greg, could you milk me?"

@oliviaoblivia: haha, that's awesome. I hope you let him ;)

DH is totally into it. Not in a sexual way, more in a scientific "I can't believe milk is coming out of your boobs" way. The first time I opened my pump he wanted to try it out on himself to see what it felt like.

My husband is grossed out by the thought of breastfeeding in general. I can't wait to see how he reacts the first time he sees me pump!

DH and I went to a wedding about an hour from home around 6 weeks pp and I had to pump 3 times during the trip. The first time was in the car in the parking lot of the venue. We got there early to give me enough time. Well my manual pump at the time was very cumbersome and my hands got very tired so he kindly grabbed the pump and "milked" me, lol. It was hilarious then and still is 5 months later. He's very supportive and knows that I'll pump anywhere I need to. I have since bought a better manual pump so I haven't needed his assistance but he's offered :)

My husband is so supportive of breastfeeding that he just thought it was awesome. Maybe the sight of my boobs didn't hurt either. Either way, he was a big fan.

dh doesn't seem to care really. I didn't pump til lo was 5-6 weeks old and he was super excited to put all the parts together and see how it worked. First time I pumped I was nursing lo on the right and he was holding the pump to the left! Then he said "Look, I'm milking you!" Thankfully I've handled the pumping all by myself when needed since then.

My husband stared at me so long one time (out of curiosity) I told him to leave. :P I think he might have said something like..."omg, whoa..." I think he was just amazed at how much bigger (get ready for some TMI) my nipples got. :P

DH seems so indifferent when i pump, but I know it's awkward! He usually feeds E at the same time and tells her I'm making her some yummy food :P

LOL! DH was howling with laughter the first time he saw me use a pump. Of course, I started laughing which irritated my c-section. Thanks for the walk down memory lane =D

DH is so good and supportive. If he's home and LO fusses while I am pumping, he takes care of her, and he always asks if he can bring me something. I tell him that my pump is a "milk machine" just like you'd use on cows. He isn't amused. :)

Haha!

The first time my DH saw me pump was during early labor...I'd been having consistent contractions but they were weak and still pretty spread out. My midwife had suggested nipple stimulation to get things moving, so I was locked myself in our bedroom (my mom was here) to try out the pump and see if I could encourage the contractions.

I had sent DH to work but he knew I was in early labor. I'd promised to call when things got moving, but he was really anxious to be here for everything came home early without calling ("didn't want to come into the game in the third quarter"). My mom told him that I was trying to get in a nap (mostly true, but impossible).

So he walked into the bedroom expecting me to be asleep but found me instead sitting on the bed hooked up to the pump. He stared at me, I started at him, both looking like deer caught in headlights. Neither of us could look away. And then we both burst into laughter.

He makes a joke every time he sees me pumping now, lol.

Haha - I love that part of Friends! I think that episode was on TV recently...

Yeah, it's an awkward site for sure. DH has to watch me pump 3X/day on weekdays, and all day on weekends (I EP).

DH *says* it doesn't bother him, but I wonder what he really thinks... it has to look weird/awkward!

Over the weekend my manual breast pump (medela harmony) got delivered. Curious, I opened up the box, lifted up my shirt and tried "pumping" (our LO, our first, isnt even born yet - so this is our first experience with any type of breast pump).

My husband happened to be walking towards me right at that moment and the sight completely freaked him out. He quickly turned around, while muttering some weird noises, and walked away from me.

If you watch friends, do you remember that episode when Rachel & emma move back in with Joey and Ross is thanking joey for taking them in. Joey reassures Ross that he's over rachel and says "and if i wasnt, walking in on a woman using a breast pump will do it for you" ? The husband had that moment.

I thought/think it's so hilarious and still crack up replaying his reaction in my head!
